Space Mountain Heading to the Scrap Heap :)

The trend towards the photo-realistic posters need's to stop, and it's not because I'm being nostalgic. Their is something about the tease of an illustration that entices the viewer to attend an attraction, much like one sheets in a theater. If people see too much of something, they can form an opinion based off that, and if that opinion is negative, they will skip it all together. It's marketing 101.

I agree. I remember years ago, the "Debeers Diamond" commercials (if you recall, they were black sillouettes [sp] where the diamonds were "real"). I remember reading something about the marketing behind those commercials saying that they used sillouettes because they would appeal to every race since there were no visible features. Each person watching the commercial would interpret the sillouettes as an "equal".

So, to your point about the "tease of an illustration", I would agree that "spacemen" riding SM (with helmets instead of faces) might appeal to all races, thus teasing them in further.

Just my thoughts...

I do recall them, and you are exactly right about their marketing strategy. It does work, that's why whenever I tried to sell TV to a client, it was always in storyboard form, that left you some creative liberty in how the spot ultimately turned out. We call it 'Theater of the Mind'. :)

Agreed in full. ALL marketing. Honestly, I think that's part of a huge of Disney, be it the feelings they create in the marketing or be it the real part.

If someone was too short to ride SM, they give this certificate with your name on it. :D

I think they discontinued it back in 2006-2007,though...

But they now have 2.5x2in cards that state the same thing...

Ah...Interesting. I would want one for collector's purposes.

Shame they are smaller now...
