Something I noticed while driving around SM the other day....may have already been mentioned, but.......that black stripe ain't plastic or a tarp.
It's paint or tar or something like that.
Looks kinda bad....

It's clearly black primer.

Given the roof is concrete slabs.. I don't think its a far fetch to consider it's simply sealer for seams or expansion joints, etc.

I would think that it is some type of sealant or super duper Kilz Primer. :D

I was at the Art store in DTD (May 2009) and I didn't see the Paris posters so maybe they were added after but I really need to find the Casey's Corner poster. Here is what it looks like...

Have you guys ever seen this one?

Thanks for the high res version. Well, high res enough to redraw it and get it printed at a ratio of 2'x3' for the office.

:D

Love the retro posters. We bought the P.O.D. HM and have really treasured it.

The computers in any Art of Disney store. I really need to get the Jungle Cruise one.
We like that one too, but I think Sam likes the Tilki room version for the birds faces and expressions. The colors too.

I REALLY hope you are not on crack.:lookaroun:lol:
Print on Demand, ay? Where is this? :D
^ correct. It takes them about 30-60 minutes sometimes to print, so they can deliver to your on property resort. or you will just have to wait for it if staying off property.

Isn't there pre-made attraction posters available to buy already, unless you're referring to Print on Demand...

Like my AA poster from The Heritage Shop at AA? :lookaroun:lol:

I don't think so ... Sid Cahuenga's One-of-a-Kind was the one place that had them in the Studios, as long as a ton of one sheets from films like 'Condorman' and 'The Computer wore Tennis Shoe's'. When we were their in May the only place I could find anything remotely like that was at the Art of Disney Stores.

Edit - You can find them on line, but I am not sure if these are print on demand versions off an Epson, or actual press-run posters.

Actually the posters for both Midway Mania and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage were done in the classic 60s style. You can thank Lasseter & friends for that!

And you are right. John Lasseter is someone who should be running the parks. He can understand how to get people what they want and stay creative.

Also, are the TSMM posters for sale?

:( Yes, the last time I was there, there were no more vintage posters.

Bought a Pinocchio poster there once...

Speaking of attractions posters (as we wait for a new SM development):

What is going on with the posters in the MK train station entrance tunnels?

They removed the HM posters during that attraction's rehab 2 years ago, and never brought them back.

Since then, they've altered some of the areas where the posters used to be by installing international park map racks.

Meanwhile, even with less real estate to display their wide variety of posters, there are at least one or two duplicate posters within the same tunnel! (Mad Tea Party? Snow White?)

It feels like no department is in charge of those posters, and they've been forgotten by management. Sure, it's a little detail. But it's literally the first thing you see as you step foot into the MK.

You'd think they'd want to put posters up to remind visitors to visit their newly-rehabbed, high-capacity "people eater" attractions like HM, IaSW, and HoP.

(For those who've never noticed, the original HoP posters now hang on either side of that attraction's doorway)

Your right, that however would be an obvious detail that in years past would not have been allowed ... but this is new management, and their apparently not concerned with the little things right now. I'm actually surprised that their aren't any DVC posters in the tunnels under the train station. :ROFLOL:

The trend towards the photo-realistic posters need's to stop, and it's not because I'm being nostalgic. Their is something about the tease of an illustration that entices the viewer to attend an attraction, much like one sheets in a theater. If people see too much of something, they can form an opinion based off that, and if that opinion is negative, they will skip it all together. It's marketing 101.

You know what I'm upset about? the fact these trains are still going to be those tiny little rocket sleds...not moved to something like Disneylands where you sit up...I'm only 6'3 & 194 lbs...and I'm CRAMPED in those cars..ugh

There are... but a lot of them are framed it think. I was referring to PoD

I make my own frames. Im not paying a few hundred dollars for one framed when i can build one that looks the same for just the materials costs.

Im not sure they have all the PoD's framed though.

I meant the ones rolled up in those black tubes.

But the Mickeys on some frames are a nice touch. :D

That is true... i cant do mickeys on the frames.

Oh. That is right. There are some in the tubes. It has been 3+ years since I have purchased anything there. You are correct.
