Space Mountain Audio

Does this have anything to due with Space Mountain being closed for most of the day on Friday? We were hoping to ride it one last time before we left, but they kept saying the ride was having issues and they didn't know when it would reopen. But the lights were off when we rode the Peoplemover.

Too bad we missed it by a couple days.

As impressive as DL's audio is, it is easy for frequent riders to memorize the tune and anticipate the drops and curves. That is still impossible to do at WDW.

Speak for yourself... I've had the tracks memorized for years, and I'm not even a local.

There's a projection on Space Mountain that is a spiderweb.

Sounds like they're working on installing the lighting for Not-So-Scary, probably left a light on that shouldn't be.

it's really amazing to me that it wasn't ready for summer nightastic...that would have been a great kick-off. it really feels like a complete ride now.

i noticed a spider web projection on the outside of SM tonight.
Could they be working out our own Halloween overlay? Not as large, but the music could change to something spooky. Add new lights and there ya go. So, a mini-ghostly galaxy??? Perhaps now that Summer Nightastic did pretty well, they want to spruce up MNSSHP?

You don't get it. It is irrelevant whether or not you memorize the audio on Space Mountain Florida. Because it is a continuous audio loop, and not tailored to your specific vehicle, you will never be able to use your memorized audio to anticipate drops and turns.

i would say it's very possible. it was strange seeing a spiderweb projection.

I rode it once today and it sounded great. I first heard the music while on the Peoplemover and went right to Space Mountain to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. For the record, I didn't record it.

They could certainly do a WDW version of Ghost Galaxy.

However, isn't the highlight of DL's version the projections along the interior dome very close to the ride vehicles? DL's trains hug the walls and ceiling much much closer than inside WDW's huge dome.

I think we have been seeing some great improvements with WDW in the last 6 months. I really hope they keep this up. I think even of they don't do a complete Ghostly Galaxy, they will at least adjust the music for the season and keeps those spiderwebs on the mountain. I wish someone would have gotten pictures. I have no doubt MVMCP will be better this year. Wish I were going to it as we had planned. Oh, well. I am super pumped about Christmas. I bet they find new ways to improve that area too.

Went and rode it 3 times today. I found the audio a little louder on the Omega side? Idk.. at least that's what it felt like.

Overall - awesome! Really happy they are plussing the attraction with audio. Granted, it could be on board audio, and an actual "soundtrack," but it's nice for now.

It really is more like "background" music as someone stated. It sounds a lot like music you would hear on TTA. Some areas of the ride it's really loud, others it's just kind of faint background noise.

The sound effects are the best part - especially the helix finale! Holy crap! It felt like we were going 80,000 mph. Really awesome!
