I rode is twice yesterday and I did not notice it. Either it was not on when we rode or I just flat out missed it. Martin did not mention it on either ride and we were talking about park audio during the exit on the first ride so I am leaning towards it was not up when we were on it.

Does anyone know if this was in the master plan all along from the recent refurb? Or is this a new technology that has evolved since the refurb was budgeted? And how does this fit into the "TDO is cheap" way of thinking? (I don't mean why wasn't it on-board audio. But why spend money on this addition so many months after the refurb was complete if TDO was apparently satisfied with it as-is?)

I'm anxious to ride it and see if it is an acceptable (or dare I say better?) alternative to on-board music.

The complaint was that TDO was "cheap" for not installing an entirely new track to avoid a bumpy, jarring ride. Many fans also wanted a soundtrack.

I have yet to ride it, but I've been told it's just as good as on-board audio. :)

I for one am glad to hear about this, i cant wait for my december trip. For those of you who whining, just stay off of it and go somewhere else, nothing is ever going to be good enough for you.

I am genuinely shocked about this. I thought it would be years before WDW was brought up to par with Disneyland.

Replace the tracks and improve the launch effects and I agree. ;)

Sadly since it wasn't done in this refurb I think it will be a LONG time before we see that. Audio is certainly a nice plus though.

Well we all have our opinions on this, but let's not derail this thread with comparisons of the two. This thread is about the new audio on WDW's SM - so back on with the topic at hand. :)

I have to say I am genuinly suprised and excited and that never happens any more. Very cool news for WDW, now I just need to get over there and try it out this week.

Count me completely shocked and happily surprised. If this can do it as well as onboard audio then I'm ecstatic about it. Can't wait to get a video to see how well its done. Only one more thing needs to be done to our SM now to make it awesome, update the re-entry tunnel.

Well Said. What do you want. people were recently complaining that disney is not doing anything. That has changed in the last year to year and a half.

Yeah, I can't believe people are actually complaining about this. It's apparently as good as on-board audio. Did we receive the best refurbishment possible? No. Nor do we ever, especially in a recession, but they have made for the best possible guest experience given the limited money they were given.

Great news. I can't believe they do this a week after I leave. Now I have to wait till October to ride it. (I guess things could be worse)

As far as the Tom Morrow line, it was playing Aug 16-20, but it is truncated. There is no "your party from Saturn has arrived, please give them a ring"

I was able to find a ride through with the new audio effects on another site, however I don't know all the politics with outside WDW sites, and what is kosher to post and what it not, but if you do a google search for "new wdw space mountain audio" it is about the 6th link down. Steve feel free to delete this post if I am in violation of anything.

EDIT: it is a pretty rough recording, but the track is very good IMHO.
