Southeast GAS PRICES

Many of the gas stations in WNC are rationing gas. The one I went to only let you fill 20 dollars worth, which is only half my tank. I went to 3 gas stations tonight, all three of them out. In total Ive been to 4 today. I payed 3.05 for medium (I forget what its called... medium plus? Its not the Premium).

The gas station I was able to fill at was NUTS. All of the stations have been insane all day!

I did see a few $3.20 prices here today (Northern NJ) but for the most part they are about $2.79 to $2.99. I saw two on Route 23 North in West Milford that were both $2.69 and they were mobbed. I joined the mob and filled up as they were the lowest around. I don't understand the other stations being so high. I was at an Exxon that was $2.69 and mobbed as I said but accross the street was a BP that was $2.79 with nobody there. You would think they would realize they should drop their price and get some customers....

GA's mayor came on the news a little while ago and said they are going to crack down on price gouging!?! That's a joke! Every station has shot prices up $0.75 to $1.00 in less than half a day and some in less than half an hour!

Gas here is East TN is 3.30+. I just spent 2.90 to fill up my car. 5 hours earlier it was 30 cents less. I didn't think they were going to go up during the day like that. Now that my Disney vacation is nearing, 27 days, I'm seriously thinking about flying down. I don't know what I'm going to do! This sucks!

This morning I saw three gas stations: $2.56, $2.59, $2.52 go up to $ 3.76. $2.79, $3.02 respectively. This was just a matter of hours from 9 am to 3 pm! Someone really needs to do something about this! Especially since I saw one of these gas stations change the price twice within the time shown above! It is a good thing I filled up at $2.46 atwo days ago! Anyway, enough gripping and back to work!

O'Yea! Location was on I-20 about 20 minutes East of Atlanta, GA!

This is really about de-regulation, government has no real control over prices, and the lack of oil companies reinvesting in infrastructure, refineries. The hands off approach, something I usually fight for, just doesn't seem to work here. Greed, profit, has robbed the oil companies of their common sense....reinvest in your company.

Rant done.

In Northern VA I got gas today at $2.79/gallon but they ran out of regular while I was filling so I only got 3/4 tank. I've heard that the price will be up $.80 by tomorrow in our area. I did see stations that had just increased their prices to $2.99 - $3.19, but I got lucky. I'm sure it will be around $3.50 by tomorrow.

I'm working on telecommuting at least 1-2 days a week to just save gas, providing the boss approves.

Same over here in Daytona, I had to wait like 25 minutes to get into the station. Only to find out regular was out..... :brick:

That is my plan as well. I have been told by many people I work with they are going to try the same thing. I have a laptop and I only have one face to face meeting a week and it does not have to be. With conference call numbers, VPN access and voice over IP it is really cheaper for companies to have at home workers anyway. I realize not all jobs you can do that but if you can you should see if your company will let you.

darn FLA and having the law that they cannot sell the gas at a loss... otherwise prices would go down a bit now...

I heard on the news that Texas was shipping you guys in Fla some gas....hope that helps out some.....We will be in Fla in Nov/Dec, so you can pay us back then.... ...just joking....

Gas jumped from 2.76 to 3.31 yesterday.....

I enjoy reading Walter Williams articles, and usually agree with most of what he has to say. Here is an interesting take.

That article nailed the truth. The truth is that we should be paying close to these prices if gas had went up in price similar to inflation. His take on the the environmentalists stopping new oil wells or new refineries being built is the truth. It's common knowledge and should be changed.

Thanks for the info, I was just ranting and raving too! Actually been done it all year! I am very lucky that I do not have a long compute to work everyday! I did just receive an increase in my mileage cost per mile!

Renewable energy is better, cleaner and cheaper in the long run. But since our beloved President is blind as a bat, oil will continue to fuel global warming and there won't be enough oil to go around someday
