Southeast GAS PRICES

For those of you traveling/driving to the world this weekend, be warned that gas is VERY HIGH. They are expecting gas in all of GA to be at minimum $4.00 for regular unleaded by Sunday and Florida can't be much better. The main refinery that provides gas for the southeast is unfortunately in New Orleans.

My thoughts and prayers go to all of those in LA, MS and AL.

it's $3.10 in central Kentucky, along I-65...up from $2.48 yesterday.

Gas here in Pinellas Park has jumped from $2.59 to $2.79 for regular. My little brother up in Franklin Square, NY told me regular gas is up to $3.40 a gallon.

Again in East Tennessee stations are now over $3.00 per gallon at almost all stations.

I know that gas in this area could be hard to come by as it is shipped by barge from New Orleans, up the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers to Knoxville. I don't see that happening much in the next few weeks.

Stations have already started to limit gas to $30.00 per purchase and nearly all stations are now pre-pay to ward of the people who drive off.

Sure glad I got my trips over with for the year already and don't have plans to travel over the Holiday weekend.

Jumped another .16 to 3.25. While the gas prices are making me sick I worry more about the folks still fighting for their lives down there.

My thoughts and prayers are with them.

On the way home..

the same three gas stations I spoke of earlier were at $3.39 each! Some one please tell me what price gouging (sp?) is! Because this is getting crazy.

Just north of Boston, this morning I was seeing an average low of $2.65 for reg. Yet right on the opposite side of the highway, reg was $3.35....

Guess gas is more expensive if your driving North :brick:

Hey, I wonder what these oil companies figures will look like for the quarter. Any chance their profit margins remain strong? :lookaroun
Ok, when I got out of work, the $2.65 was now $2.89.... wish I had filled up yesterdat... :brick:

I just filled up on Friday for $2.53 and have only driven a little bit now. I'm really going to have to cut downmy driving. Obviously I haven't been out to see what the prices are at Disney. I'm going there tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get a price.

Due to some rumor induced panic, the great state of Georgia has gone absolutely nutty today. I was blessed in that I filled my truck up on Monday at the "low price" of $2.41/gallon. Today after the rumor mill started and Chicken Little ran screaming to the phone and the radio station airways, there are many gas stations with no gas and the prices that I saw within Gwinnett county on my way home ranged from no gas to offer, to $2.89/gallon to $4.19/gallon. I have heard that there was a gas station that actually was charging $6.07/gallon in Atlanta today.

It's not pretty folks. Maggie

gas: it's a gas!

as much as it sucks for my wallet right now, $3 for a gallon of gas is probably the best thing to happen to this country in a long time.

just think of how many h2s you saw roaring down to the grocery store two a half years ago. that was back when hybrids were for hippies!

we were due for a change a long time ago. now we've got no choice.

ps - isn't it strange that we've gone from phonograph to vinyl to 8-track to cassette to cd to ipod, yet we're still putting the same thing in our cars that they put in the model-t?

Yes, the auto industry is negligent for making absurd gas-hog vehicles, but it's not the best thing to everyone. There are millions of working poor in the US who are going to have to start making choices between gas for work or food. Millions of Americans don't drive huge SUV's but still can't afford the impact these rates will cause.

I have a ten year old car. I can't afford another one. I'd love a hybrid but we don't even make $35,000 a year which is the average price for most models. We can't even afford a $10,000 car. We also only have one car though we need two because with only one, I don't have any way of getting to a job. (And no, there aren't busses in my area. Florida doesn't believe in mass transit.)

The people who bought those H2's and junk can afford the gas hike. They might not like it, but if they can afford that kind of car, they can afford the gas. It's us little people driving normal cars that are going to suffer the worst.

Here in Metro Detroit, it's about $3.20 on average.

I woke up in shock this morning. When I got gas last night around 5:30, I paid $2.79. By 9:00 last night, It had jumped to $2.99. Then this morning, we got hit with $3.20 and rising. We're expecting it to top off at around $3.50.

Yikes!

It's nuts here as well. One gas station was running out of gas. Another had long lines going out into the street. I finally went to another one and was able to buy gas.

At about 10:00am this morning at my nearby exit here in Brunswick, gas prices ranged from $2.35 to $2.79. I'm not sure what it was this afternoon. (I filled up a 3-4 days ago at $2.23 while the station next door dropped to $2.19, yesterday it went back up to 2.35 at the same stations)

I just filled up over here in Daytona. Prices aren't too bad considering what everywhere else is at. But the Hess I just went to is out of regular unleaded, and I've heard it's not just the Hess that is out so I had to fill up with plus. As of 9:15 pm EST, unleaded plus was 2.74.
