Trip Report Sometimes going halfway is a good thing - Max's Hong Kong Adventure

Hello All and welcome to another Max Trip Report
IMG_6282.JPG

This one is solo - sans family - as it was a quick stop at a new park for me
Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) opened in 2005 and has slowly been growing into itself
Initial feedback on HKDL was too small and not enough to do.
As you will see in this brief stop I had plenty to do (and actually did not accomplish everything I wanted to do)

Who: Max , aka Clarence to those who read my Cali report recently.
What: HKDL for a day and a bit
When: Friday Oct 6and Saturday Oct 7
Why: A Disney park I have not been to AND my company was sending me back to Japan so I detoured at the start of the business trip to catch this gem of a park.

Up next: Intercontinental travel !!

Ok so bucket list item...fly on a plane in a pod. So jealous right now.
Really enjoying this trip report seeing all of the differences and similarities. Can’t wait to see the rest.

Boy they weren't kidding about Hong Kong going all out for Halloween! Looks quite different from September. Anticipating more on that front,
particularly the walkthrough haunted steampunk maze on Main Street
.

Fifty minutes for Pooh?!?! That's like 10 times the wait times I saw in HKDL!!!

Lastly, I love the orange dress lady photobombing your castle pic. :hilarious:

Make sure you are sitting down when you review the cost of flying in a pod
It ain't cheap!!
Glad you are enjoying the report

Those are very cool pumpkins!
Yes, I really regret not getting back to see them again

Love the Halloween costumes on the parade characters--really fun. :)
My DD thought the same thing!!

The Halloween stuff was full force and very cool

Believe it or not I had about 6 different selfie views and that was one of the best.
For some silly reason I thought I was going to have the park to myself......;)

long wait - will catch it on Saturday

Hunchback of Notre Dame is in the house - or at least Clopin is - one of the only references that I know about in a Disney theme park
(other than the stage show at MGM that I saw back in the early 2000's)

More stuff in Fantasyland

Now at this point I was hot and tired - I have not mentioned yet but temps were north of 30 C and very humid
So the chance to get some AC was a good thing
So I decided to do my first HKDL attraction
IMG_6416.JPG

And yes - it was busy too but at least it was a large theatre
only a 10 min wait.

Day 2 cont'd
Queue was nicer than Florida's
Show was exactly the same (all in English) - at least that is what my notes say but I was jet lagged and I cant remember
IMG_6422.JPG

Next was a walkthrough (Fairytale Forest) that reminds me of Storybook Canel boats in DLR
IMG_6424.JPG

Pandora is the jewelry company but thought it was cool that it is also the new area of DAK!!
IMG_6426.JPG

Each princess had an area with a castle/tower/landmark and at least one cute little singng display
In Rapunzel if you pushed the button she would come out to the window and attempt to hoist up Flynn
I think I have more pics from Saturday when I walked through again

Maybe it's just me, but I think the floral Mickey at the entrance was a little creepy! But I did like the Maleficent portrait over the sign!

Loved the Halloween parade pics! I love the character costumes!

The Fairy Tale Forest looks cool! Wish we had something similar here!

I am not sure if they were going for "creepy"
I think they wanted it to look like he was wearing a mask??

More Forest pics to come in the next post - it is a nice walk through!!

Headed out of Fantasyland and toward Toy Story Land
This is the pathway that takes you to all three of these newer areas of HKDL (that were not there in the beginning)

IMG_6469.JPG

I have quickly visited toy story area of DLP Studios park and this place had the same vibe to it
Not sure if this is exactly what HS is going to get but I believe it will be similar

this covered area (barrel of monkeys for those are old enough to remember) is used for meet and greets
(but not at this exact time @Tuvalu before you say something!!)

More pictures around this relatively small land
