There was a live stunt show at Hollywood Studios called Lights Camera Action Stunt Spectacular about 14 years ago. It was only performed during the day and only 1-2 times a day. If it rained the show was cancelled and pretty sure the performers still got paid for the day.
I think you are referring to Lights, Motors, Action! That attraction was only operating for a bit more than ten years. It was very popular with the little boys in our family. I wasn't surprised to see it close. Like you said, it was very much affected by weather, leading to a lot of disappointment.

CMs surely need to be paid if they are called to work and present themselves for work. I suppose that feeds into a worst-case scenario: High costs (because these CMs were invariably being paid more than someone selling popcorn!), limited opportunities to satisfy guests, and significant dissatisfaction due to weather-related cancellations.

Slightly different scenario. Yes, it was performed 2, sometimes 3 times a day, but the stunt crew would spend alot of time practicing and rehearsing around the performances. There was a practice lot next to the stage area that you could see on the tour. The cross-trained employees would probably be re-deployed as is standard for any closure, but the stunt crew might have just spent the time working on the gear, rehearsing, working out, etc.
