Trip Report Someone Give That Hurricane Its Red Stapler Back!

I know I have an unfinished report but I figured I would attempt to finish this one while things are still fresh in my memory.

Who: Me and my friend A
When: October 4-11
Where: Silver Lake Resort (timeshare off of 192)
Why: I don't think that needs an answer

If you didn't get it, the inspiration for the title of this TR is based on one of my favorite movies, Office Space, where Milton (see above) is very possessive of his red stapler and some unfortunate things happen when it is taken away. We would be forced to deal with the wrath of Hurricane Milton during our trip.

OCTOBER 4TH

Our flight from PHL was a little later than our usual crack of dawn flight and didn't leave until around 10am. The flight was uneventful. I dozed for a little, watched Agatha All Along, listened to some music, and read some of my book and we were there in no time.

By some sort of miracle, my bag was literally the first one on the baggage carousel and A's bag was not far behind. We grabbed our rental car and we were on our way. Since we did not make park reservations for today, we would have to wait until after 2pm to go to the parks. I still think it is dumb that APs need to make park reservations. Anyway, we headed to the timeshare to drop off our luggage and relaxed for a little bit before heading over to Epcot.

At 2:45, this was welcoming us...

The entrance area was relatively empty which was a welcome sight. We stopped in the camera shop so A could exchange his Fuel Rod for the new version with the new plug for newer iPhones. For some reason, this machine wouldn't work so we left empty handed.

Spaceship Earth was down when we came in so we skipped that and headed towards The Land. However, it had been a while since breakfast so a pit stop was needed. We checked out the Festival Favorites booth and grabbed a snack.

BBQ Pork Rinds served with pimento cheese and Irish Milk Shake: Guiness Stout, Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur, and Vanilla Ice Cream

They are at the Festival Favorites booth for a reason! Also, the pork rinds counts as one of the cheese dishes in the passport for Emile's Fromage Montage.

I did think it was funny that the shake is still served in the Ireland cup even though the Ireland booth didn't make the cut this year.

After our snack, we made our way over to the Land and hopped on a boat tour of the greenhouse. Soarin' had a fairly low wait time posted but the line was backed up almost all the way to the entrance so we knew that was a lie.

We did hit up the Fuel Rod station outside of Garden Grill and had no problems. Having charged back up batteries was a priority with Milton on his way.

We took a trip through imagination after that and then made our way to our first of many laps around WS.

It was warm and humid so we sucked up the AC in Canada Far and Wide and made our way into many of the shops to cool off for a bit. I grabbed a beer from the cart in UK and we continued our stroll. None of the booths caught our eye until the Flavors of America booth. A got the Carolina Style Hot Dog but none of the dogs really called to me so I opted for dessert instead.

Freshly-baked Chocolate Pudding Cake with bourbon caramel

I had higher hopes for this but it was just ok. The cake was moist and rich but the caramel left something to be desired.

We caught the first few notes of Aloe Blacc performing at the Eat to the Beat concert as we moved on. We stopped again in China to cool off in another Circlevision movie. I guess the plans to update this movie were quietly scrapped like the poor Mary Poppins ride.

We were lucky enough to catch a Fiesta Hoy! in Mexico.

We started up another lap around WS to kill time until our ADR. We made it as far as the UK where we caught the full set from the band back there and by then it was time to backtrack to Canada for our first time at Le Cellier.

I have to say that it did not disappoint. I had the NY Strip with Truffle Butter sauce and Macaroni and Cheese. This was hands down the best steak that I have ever had. It was cooked just to my liking, had great char and seasoning, and melted in my mouth. I don't think this will be the last time we eat there.

By the time we were done eating, Luminous was starting so we opted to beat the rush and head back to the timeshare after a long day of travel and touring the world.

OCTOBER 5TH

We slept in a little bit today because we had a brunch reservation at 10:30 at Homecomin' so there really wasn't much of a point in starting at a park and then having to leave to go to DS right away.

We both got our favorite, the Hallelujah Biscuit which never lets me down. It's also so filling that it ends up saving money because you don't need to eat again until dinner time.

After a Southern carb overload, we had to park at Epcot because that was where our park reservation was and we headed through the back of the park and over to HS via the hanging boxes of death.

Today was probably the driest day that we had the whole trip but it was HUMID.

Even Gertie had steam coming out of her nose from how hot it was.

We started off like we usually do with Star Tours. Sadly, we did not get either of the new scenes. We then made our way over to the next air conditioning at Muppet Labs to see an old favorite and pray that it will survive the new land.

Normally, our next stop would be at Baseline but we were still so full from brunch that we didn't even have room for beer.

Instead, we jetted off to Batuu and decided to give the new single rider line for Rise a try. I had read that the single rider line skipped the preshows and you basically walked through the shuttle into the stormtrooper room. But things must have changed since they started it. We waited by the exit of the ride and went in through a little backstage hallway that brought us out to the BB-8 briefing room that was filled with just single riders. We then had a single rider only shuttle preshow that brought us out to the stormtrooper room.

The single riders were sent to one side of the interrogation line while the rest of the line went on the other side. We ended up hitting the single rider lottery because when we got to the front they took 8 people from the single rider line at one time to our own cell. Our thought was that the single rider line was getting too long and they needed to clear out some room but either way A and I got to ride together like normal but for half the wait time!

We explored Batuu some more after our escape and I had to contain my excitement when we turned the corner and saw these guys.

After a brief fanboy moment, we did single rider on Smuggler's Run.

IMG_3073.JPEG

We almost got lucky again on this. A got called first but then after that they took the next 4 single riders together because there was a party of 2 followed by a large party that was too hard to break up so it was easier to send single riders first.

My flight crew actually did pretty well and got 2 canisters.

We returned to the planet's surface and ran into Rey trying to recruit a youngling to the cause.

We exited into the Toy Story Land and scoped out the wait time for TSMM. It was listed at a fairly reasonable time but the queue was backed up all the way into the first outdoor area with the switchbacks in use so we knew that there was no way that the posted time was accurate.

Instead we sucked up more AC, in One Man's Dream and watched the "preview" for Inside Out 2 which has been out for a long time.

Next up was more, AC and a visit to Potatoland at the Vacation Shorts.

We checked out how long the single rider line was for Rockin' Rollercoaster but the single rider line looked to be closed.

MMRR had a long wait time as well so we decided to catch the last showing of Indy for the day instead.

We were done for the day at HS. We took the boat back to Epcot because we wanted to make a pit stop on the Boardwalk for something to eat before going to MK to end our night.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs had recently opened and we were both excited to try them out. I got the Mexican Street Corn Dog which was a cheddar-jalapeno sausage in the corn batter topped with chipotle mayo, corn, cilantro, and cheese.

This was so yummy. It had the perfect amount of spice that complimented the sweetness of the corn batter. I had all intentions of getting a margarita at the stand next door but the entire time that we waited for our corn dogs, which are made fresh to order, the line never moved so no margarita for me.
