Some Info I Came Across

And for those of you who think you've got all the scoop on the Magic Kingdom's future changes from the Fantasyland blueprints circulating on the web... well think again. Although I did tell you in May that the Magic Kingdom would see its borders expanded for the first time in 20 years, the blueprints are not all that's coming to the most visited theme park in the world.

Why did you have to leave us on a cliff hanger!?

It's like watching Pirates 2 all over again! :ROFLOL:

Not sure I totally get this... an on site guest would NEVER need to stand in anything but a fastpass line? If so? That's one Hell of an incentive... I wouldn't even mind if the on site Hotel Costs went up :)

You get a certain number of passes that you can use one time, once you have used them all its back to the stand by line.

This was discussed in another thread, cant remember which one. Someone theorized that maybe the longer you stayed the more passes per day you get, kind of an incentive to stay longer.

It may just be a go kart track to you, but SOME of us remember our fathers' taking us on it as a young child...then taking our own kids on it when we were older. Also, it remains a crowd favorite for some unknown reason - probably nostalga, but it does have crowds of riders.

Just because you don't like it or think it belongs, does not make it so - it's just your opinion. Master Yoda had a good analogy - something that seems to be lost on people today.

I have great memories along the lines of those that you mentioned, but it's still not a reason for the Speedway to remain forever. If Disney based everything on guest nostalgia we truly would have a museum and not a theme park. So while I understand your argument, you also have to look at the other side.

I don't have a problem with the idea of a Speedway in TL, I just think the execution could be much better in this day and age. Having gas-guzzling, noisy, smog-producing cars on rails doesn't look, smell, or sound very futuristic in the 21st century.

With that said, it remains a popular attraction which means Disney will most likely sit on it even though it could really use some updating. JMHO of course!

Ok I would just like to add some info to the Indy Speedway argument and I hope it might help settle any dipute.
This quote comes from The Imagineering Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom.

Quote: What little kid doesn't want to drive a car? What big kid doesn't want to drive a race car? Those questions reveal the heart of the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. Formely known as the Grang Prix Raceway, this 2,260 ft Tomorrowland staple has been offering a first driving experience to generations of young Guests.
The Tomorrowland Indy Speedway is a modern interpretation of the classic Disneyland Autopia. When Disneyland opened, the interstate highway system was just being implemented. In keeping with his long-standing interest in education, Walt felt that Autopia could go a long way toward teaching kids how to drive on the new roadways.

I think this long quote explains Indy Speedways validity in the parks as well as its importance in peoples hearts considering Walts vision. The nostalgic value it receives is well worth its wait and the smiles on every childs face once they leave the ride.
IMHO :)
I do agree that it could use an update, especially with the noise and smell of gas issue, it is located in Tomorrowland after all!

Ditto - this was one of my least looked forward to attractions on our last trip, which was my daughter's first. This ended up being one of her most memorable things at Disney. You can't really measure the value of the smile on a child's face after they "got to drive their own car!"

So I was chatting with Patrick Brennan the other day, and although I won't tell you exactly what we discussed, I can tell you that Typhoon Lagoon came up in the discussions. Apparently there's been a second expansion beyond Crush'n Gusher which has been in the works for a very long time. Although the project's not been green lit at this time, hopes are high that with continued good attendance at the waterparks, management will see the benefits of adding greater capacity to the park most easily expanded. If you're curious as to where the expansion would take place, it would be to the west of Crush'n Gusher, in an area referred to as the boneyard by cast members. And sorry, but I cannot give you any details about the project at this time.

In my rush to type out a list of future, added incentives for guests to stay on-property which are being discussed, I forgot to mention one of the most exciting ideas we've come up with. We are currently looking at the possibility of implementing a system where each on-site guest receives a Magic Pass for each night they spend in a Disney Resort hotel. So if a guest stays at the Pop Century Resort from Monday through Wednesday, then each day they go to the parks, they have one Magic Pass to spend. So what is a Magic Pass? A Magic Pass is a fastpass... but a fastpass you can spend on any attraction of your choice. Think a one-time Dream Pass. These would be embedded in your RFID card.

Are you trying to get Patrick Brennan in trouble?

I do agree the water park expansion really helped TL, but why does BB not get any love?

I say, if you want room in TL, tear down Stitch's Celebration stage and go from there. :sohappy:

I love information. Nothing better ... well, actually knowledge is.

And while I have my strong doubts about the OP, I do believe the info here is likely good.

TL is extremely popular and needs more capacity ... Aquatica has siphoned off a chunk of business from Disney and they are expanding, so even though I can't confirm it, I doubt it's not based in fact.

AWESOME!
Can't wait till this stuff starts getting official announcements, PARTY AT MICKEY'S HOUSE! lol

I believe there was a rumor a year or so ago about TL getting a toilet bowl like slide during a second expansion. Sounds good to me

D23 Expo is going to be insane! :sohappy:

Is that right? We visited Aquatica last year and I have to say that the whole family was impressed. We really enjoyed it. Do you have any info about their expansion?

Thanks!

If you want to stay true to Walt's vision, then make the attraction a look into the future of transportation, as the original Autopia was designed to be. Give us futuristic cars that use no gasoline and produce no harmful emissions. Give us cool hands-free electronic gadgetry, give us GPS so we can see exactly where we are. All of this technology is available TODAY - so what will tomorrow bring? The attraction needs to really push the envelope. Think flying cars and a MR FUSION that eats your trash and provides power. LOL.

I've said this before... every Disney attraction should be a unique experience you can't get at your local amusement park. Every little amusement park has a little auto ride like this, and many of them are BETTER than Disney's (longer, better theme, more interesting cars, etc.).

The speedway should be updated or removed.

Personally, if Indy Speedway were removed, I would like to see it replaced with a Wall-E dark ride or attraction. Also, on another note, I'd like to see the Treehouse in Adventureland be replaced with something, anything...

Indy doesn't need to be removed. It needs to be updated!! That area as a whole stinks between TL and MTTF. I really don't know how those CM's can handle the load zone for Indy all day.

Bring in some Cars theming and go electric!!

Here is what I don't understand... The rest of the disney property is going green, I mean they have the fuel efficent buses and etc., etc. but then you have somebody like tokyo who is doing that plus making their little go kart system ecologically friendly. So my point here is that WDW spent all this money on the buses but then, they have the autotopia that just counteracts the whole blasted thing! I mean you get out of those cars and smell like you've poured gas all over yourself.

--------Ok my rant about misuse of funds is now over, continue with your reguarly scheduled program:p-------------
