Some BIG Epcot News

Well, the SSE rumor is totally off the wall because it poses major safety issues. In theory, it'd be kind of cool. But if they wanted to do it, they should have done it when they built Epcot.

As far as RoE goes, don't the Earth Globe sections allow smoke from the previous explosions to clear? If they had to take the Globe out, what would they fill the time with since the point was to AVOID fireworks? And removing the portions of the show where the Globe is the focus kills more than 2.5 minutes of the show. Cutting out the show there completely ruins the music and the story, resulting in a shoddy show. If the globe gets rehabbed, I'm sure they'll adapt the show tastefully, and not just cut out portions. (Its like putting construction walls up in one scene of PotC while they rehab it.) And about the end: what does a big explosion say about "We Go On"? Yeah, its a neat effect, but a massive fireball there?

Anyway, Corrus's "Reflections of Nemo Spectacular" does sound interesting.

Wow, I am away for a couple hours and look at what I miss.

Maybe guests will be able to do a base jump off of the globe. You just have to be careful when landing around the Leave a Legacy monuments

The inferno barge and earth barges, though hard to see, actually end up side by side during the show. The entire earth barge will not be in ROE for a few weeks at the beginning of next year, and though the original poster completely RUINED the surprise at the end of the show  , the burnoff does in fact happen. Promise. ;)

I misunderstood his statement, aparently. I thought he was saying the rehab would remove the opening of the globe and replace that with the barge release. If it was intended as saying this would change during the rehab, I think it is very plausible. While the globe does not sit over the top of the barge, from what I have seen with the engineering specs, it certainly would be close enough where releasing the flames with it would have a pretty strong negative effect on anything around it, especially a large globe.

That's just rubbish as it has been open for Kim Possable, it's a matter of not bothering to spend money opening it up.

Actually, it's not rubbish at all. It's an issue of capacity. The upstairs area is not closed off because it cannot be accessible. It could not be the open guest area it could, in part, because of evacuation/access issues. If the image works was only open to 30-40 guests, there wouldn't be an issue. 300-400 creates a more difficult situation. 1000-2000 (theoretically) is a HUGE problem. SSE has a much greater capacity if every guest was getting off, and it is a much more difficult evacuation route in the event of an emergency.

Yes
for ROE:
Am I the only one that absolutly HATES the "fire" ball during the show? I saw it many times back during the MIL CELBRTN - and it was a much prettier show without it.
To me, it takes away from the show rather than adding to it. The 1st time I saw it, I actually thought the barge was on fire. Took away from just about every firework there after.

and for SSE - maybe they could to the baskets like they do at Kennedy Space Center for E-Vacs - all the way over to MS! Think of that ride - getting off at the top, and then "gliding" all the way down to take a ride in space...
Think of the photo ops for that one! :sohappy:

There will be room at the top of SSE because as you ascend, all of the AAs will be shooting shrinking rays at you. You'll shrink down to a couple of centimeters tall! Not only will this spruce up SSE, but HISTA will (finally) be rendered obsolete.

It may be possible, but I doubt that they will do the inferno barge "burn-off" as the finale. I've always thought that they needed to remove all the other barges from the lagoon to avoid damage from the massive fireball.

Actually, this is why Body Wars wasn't removed. You will board through Wonders of Life, shoot up the wand and into SSE to the top of the attraction and disembark there. Then, Michael Eisner places you on his golf ball and knocks you over to HISTA where you are re-enlarged. But, accidentally, Figment comes into the theater with you and becomes a 7' Figzilla version of himself. What will this be called? Disney's Experimental Presenation of Communicating Over Disney . . . with Mickey and Friends.

Have you seen how little room is in 180top? And have an Omnimover running through the middle of an exhibition? Not to mention only half the floor is actually a solid `floor`, let alone uneven, nor the fire regulations, evac times, environment control, smoke extraction, A/C provision, structural integrity, lift motor room, scissor lift and hatch access, staircase towers.....

Anyhow, welcome, but don`t believe all you hear :D

Actually, there's enough room to house a good party for hmmm a good 50 people or so. And I'm seriously not joking here. In july, I had the oppurtunity to take the space ship earth tour they were offering for us cast members.

The floor where you see earth is very very stable. It's an even flat. When we took the tour, we were able to get off the top off the omnimover and the guide took us to what spaceship earth calls "THE ATTIC" The ride was actually supposed to go a little higher then it goes right now. When we got off on top to walk around, and yes, you can walk around very easily up there, the guide showed us the extra track that was laid down but was never used. "The Attic" swirls around where you can see the earth projection screen. When the lights are on, it's very messy XD! :D

It's not only freaking huge up there, it's very stable. Ask any spaceship earth cast member.

While it sounds silly, it's actually quite possible. Maybe with a few tweaks here and there but it can be done. But who knows. I guess we'll find out in the future.

Still couldn't be done. Cool story about your tour, but it's beyond impossible with the cars in constant motion, and 50 people equals next to nothing when you have 50 people passing by every 10 - 15 seconds.

It's beyond impossible, beyond silly, ridiculously ridiculous, insanely insane........well, you get the point. :D

NO!! YOU CAN'T RUIN MY DREAM!! And I'm obviously just joking here. ^_^ And yeah, that was beyond my most favorite tour along with the haunted mansion one. I love sse, so of course this was my fav. I just might do it again in two weeks. That is if it isn't full already. The tour only allows 17 at a time. I was very lucky that day when three people didn't show up.

Indeed there is - but not the general public, nor any space for load/unload. The original specs don`t call for `extra track` - what is used is what was designed; I`d be interested in hearing more about this if you can ask your CM guide? Remember only a third of 180 top is actually show floor (and designed for the associated loads) - highlighted in grey below - the rest is service areas, the central core shaft, or the higher projection area / roof of floor 80`/115` -

Martin it looks like the area you are showing in grey is right where the track turns and the cars spin 180 degrees for the decent. I would say they would have to remove the lighted tunnel with my favorite music (just before exiting into the planetarium) and make that the upper load and unload zone. Is this correct?

I hope this is BS

No way they have guests getting off at the top...then you have to wait for an empty car to get back down?

Doesn't seem likely, esp since others on the boards have said that SSE was only getting a re-done ending and post-show...

This attraction stops enough as it is....this isn't going to happen.
