Some BIG Epcot News

Martin it looks like the area you are showing in grey is right where the track turns and the cars spin 180 degrees for the decent
That`s right; you can see the track path in the grey area. Anything not grey is either a vertical shaft or non-load bearing (for alternate use) ceiling from below.

You dont just sign up to a site like this and post garbage er... rumors like that...

i beg to differ...i will start a new rumor now: I will be named as the most beautiful and intelligent guest to grace WDW with her presence. As such, I will be allowed to reign over all web sites and forums pertaining to WDW. I will now proclaim that whomever it was that let the cat out of the bag that SSE will become a giant aquarium with Nemo and friends inside shall be banished to hang out with the new "InsiderGuy".
In closing I would like to thank you all for your patronage and will ask that you do not bow to me when you see me lurking around Epcot later on this month-it upsets my children. :king:

Anyhoo, the initial rumor does seem quite far fetched...not unlike my own rumor.

Indeed there is - but not the general public, nor any space for load/unload. The original specs don`t call for `extra track` - what is used is what was designed; I`d be interested in hearing more about this if you can ask your CM guide? Remember only a third of 180 top is actually show floor (and designed for the associated loads) - highlighted in grey below - the rest is service areas, the central core shaft, or the higher projection area / roof of floor 80`/115` -

I need to talk to the cm guide and I'll get that information because when you walk up around that corner, you can see the some of the tracks laid out but never completed. The projection area is really huge and it goes at a steep angel going upwards. That climb up in general put a good strain on my hamhocks. XD! It was great excersize climbing up the first sets of stairs and then the steepness coming down. I had to hold on for dear life. Hopefully I
m not too late to sign up for this coming tour so I can ask him some more questions about this rumor and whatnot.

Am I the only one who thinks that those rumored changes to ROE would actually IMPROVE the show? I think the globe sequence drags the show to a hault and isn't as effective as it was for the millennium celebration. More fireworks during that portion of the show would be very welcome, IMO.

If that rumored news does come true, I wish it wasn't a temporary change.

I think people feel that way, but I think the globe shots are a great part. They could likely be reduced, but I love the concept of them. They make the story. I think the fountains part are the parts that drag on. But, I do think an upgrade to the globe parts with projections, lighting, fireworks, lasers, etc. around the promenade would help.

They could leave ROE the way it is forever and I would be perfectly happy. If you want constant fireworks you can check out the MK. I like that each of the four night-time shows (including Spectro) are so unique.

for ROE:
Am I the only one that absolutly HATES the "fire" ball during the show? I saw it many times back during the MIL CELBRTN - and it was a much prettier show without it.
To me, it takes away from the show rather than adding to it. The 1st time I saw it, I actually thought the barge was on fire. Took away from just about every firework there after. :

The Inferno Barge has been in the show since began during the Millenium Celebration, maybe you just don't remember it? Keep in mind the opening sequence is called "Chaos"

martin, on image 1801, on the left you can see the text "Ride Show Area"... what is the text on the top level say?

secondly, in 1801, were it says ride show area, is that the area with the kids on the phone/communication of today and right before the mirror globe?

Right under "Ride show area" you have stairway #11, and above is projection screen layout. This level is the top floor; the kids are at the end of the level beneath. SSEs layout is a feat of engineering; the floors spiral upwards from the entrance level. Because of this it`s difficult to state where one `floor` ends and the next one begins - though technically there are only 3 show floors in the building.

ok, i was turned around a bit i guess. looks like we need to become a CM and get the tour. especially to get a report of that "extra track". i wish she would have gotten some photos with the lights on (im sure the prohibit this, but it would be nice)

I misunderstood his statement, aparently. I thought he was saying the rehab would remove the opening of the globe and replace that with the barge release. If it was intended as saying this would change during the rehab, I think it is very plausible. While the globe does not sit over the top of the barge, from what I have seen with the engineering specs, it certainly would be close enough where releasing the flames with it would have a pretty strong negative effect on anything around it, especially a large globe.
Oh, absolutely. They are literally are side-by-side one another. That would be a big problem, which is why they wait until later (10:30) before burning off the rest of the unused fuel. With the earth barge out of the show during rehab though, there's no stopping them. :)
