Trip Report Solo: A Disneyland Story - My first trip by myself!

Alright, I won't get too into it, but there's been a lot of rough stuff in my life the last several years. Depression, anxiety, family member deaths, family members battling (and surviving) cancer, issues with school. A bunch of stuff.

But, I'm graduating soon. I have, with plenty of therapy and counseling, gotten too a very liveable and manageable point with my mental health. Family member health is stable and safe.

Life was dark for a while, but I've made it out the other end and things are looking bright.

After saving up for about a year, I've finally got to the point where I can take my dream solo trip to Disneyland! My first time since 2005 when I was nine years old.

It's gonna be a real budget trip, but I'm so excited! I made it work and I can do it!

I'm in the airport now ready to fly across the country!

Today is a travel day, then I have four park days, then a travel day to take me back home!

Lol sadly I can't remember any noteworthy ride breakdown stories. One time Spiderman was out of sync with the video and sound and ride all on three different tracks. So, they just let us go again so we had it working.

Sitting stuck on Matterhorn in the rain must've been awful! But at least you got a few out of it!

I hope you have an awesome time! I went to WDW solo last year and LOVED it! I could do whatever I wanted to do whenever I wanted! I've been to WDW many times with friends and family so i knew my way around and I had a blast!

And eith that I say goodbye to Disneyland. I monorailed to Disney springs to eat at Naples for a fancy treat lunch. Monorailed back. Did Indy twice since it had reopened. Casey Jr. All the Fantasyland rides but Pan again. Matterhorn. And ended with perhaps the most uniquely Disneyland ride experience: the submarine. Now to see how long I can push wandering around the park after close

@Pi on my Cake to quell the end-of-trip blues, I pose a very serious question beings as though my previous summer trip slot to D23/Disneyland opened up out of fear of hitting Galaxy's Edge in the first month. Would you be down for a Universal Florida meet-up if I managed to get down to Florida? The plan would probably be two or three days at Universal, one day at Sea World (dying to get on Mako and Manta...)

So, tomorrow is a final park day. California adventure! Gonna go right for a double or triple gaurdians just after rope drop again. Then spend most of my day switching between that, Radiator Springs, Incredicoaster, and Silly Symphony Swings. Will go light for lunch and in park food so I'll be hungry for Mimi's after park close. Miiiiiggghhhtttt leave a bit earlier in the evening so I can have time to pack up and enjoy the hot tub before my flight the day after. I'll play that by ear.

I might not still have a ticket then, but I'm totally game to meet you at City Walk if nothing else! Toothsome's is some of the best theme park food I've ever had and it's an atmosphere i think you'll really love. Plus, only costs about as much as a decent quick service meal in the park itself. Never done Mako, but Manta is amazing!

Love Toothsome's! Absolutely agree that it's one of the best theme park meals I've ever had. Considering I'm paying for @MANEATINGWREATH to join me for a day at Knott's when I go down there next month, I wouldn't be opposed to paying for you to get in either. Might be better if we did a Seaworld meet up instead to cut costs down on my end, but it's still something I'd totally be willing to do. Fact of the matter is, it's going to feel flat out wrong flying all the way down to Florida and not going to WDW, so I'd need some park time with a friend to really justify the trip to begin with, haha. Tatsu at Magic Mountain might just be my #1 coaster I've ever been on, so considering Manta is basically a more photogenic version of that I'm very excited for it. The hype surrounding Mako has also been building over the last year or two, with many people considering it the definitive B&M hyper.

While were on the subject of breakdown...Jokers and I once got evaced off of Radiator Springs Racers and got to walk the length of the outdoor race portion of the track. After that we left the park to go to Trader Sam's, and when we got back to Disneyland one of the first things that happened to us was a breakdown in Pinocchio that resulted in the lights getting turned on and us getting walked through all the Pleasure Island and puppet theater scenes.

I'd never say no to a ticket lol. If you do that I'll treat lunch!
And that sounds like some amazing evacs!!

Just read this entire thing all at once. I'm so glad you had a nice first few days and I hope your last day at DCA is fun! Regarding breakdowns, the only time I remember getting evaced was off WDW Splash Mountain in like 2013. That was really fun and I got to see some backstage areas. Can't remember if I've gotten evaced off anything else but I want to get evaced off Spaceship Earth someday.

Honestly it was the opposite for me. I hated Pixar Pier and it completely changed the vibe of that area of the park for me. I miss DCA circa 2015...

I think you're forgetting about the former occupant of Monsters Inc, SUPERSTAR LIMO!

Don't get me started on that area. It's so underdeveloped and a massive waste of space IMO. The possibilities are endless if they tore down all the empty stuff or repurposed it.

Totally agree. Grizzly Peak is my favorite area of DCA, with Cars Land as a close second. It's such a beautiful area and it was made so much better when they turned Condor Flats into Grizzly Peak Airfield.

I saw a couple cats when I was on the riverboat in Disneyland. They've been known to hang out there as well.

Congrats! You're now a member of a special club only open to WDWMAGIC members that have met him. I encourage you to share your experience in my thread because I'm sure the people that follow it would love to see it as well! https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/i-met-tony-baxter-at-disneyland.951853/

Impressive! I didn't know the monorail went all the way to Florida! ;) How was the trip? It must have taken hours.
Lol minor typo, and I was gonna take the Monorail all the way to Spring to get some Chicken Guy for lunch and maybe a drink at the Hangar Bar, but I did feel like spending 23 hours each way in a monorail, so I settled for downtown Disney and the Naples restaurant lol

Also, I did forget Superstar limos, but that was an intentional choice haha

What's on those big screens and stuff?
It is a mix of concept art, animatics, final film clips, and still. All from Disney and Pixar films dating back to Pinocchio and Dumbo up to Frozen and Tangled. The room is surrounded with screens of various sizes making it feel like a more dynamic circle vision show.

My favorite parts were the Tarzan segment where they showed the scene of him skating through the trees from the end of the movie with the visuals transitioning from concept art to animatic to rough animation to final film all as one smooth sequence. And the Let it Go sequence where all the extremely varied concept art versions of Elsa fill the small screens until it gets to where she makes the ice dress accepting who she is and then the concept arts versions are washed away.

It's not a real show, just atmosphere for tge lobby. But i found myself enjoying it as much, if not more, than most projection or screen only shows I've seen.
