Soft opening for Expedition Everest rumor

better stupid question: what's a hard opening vs. a soft opening? :brick:

A soft opening is when they let guests on before the actual "grand opening" of the attraction for a number of reasons.

1. Guest reaction
2. Guest flow
3. Training of CM's
4. How the attraction handles the crowds
5. etc.

During soft openings, it isn't guaranteed that the attraction will be open...it may open for a short time one day...then not have another soft opening for days after that.

Correct, one of the reason they attraction may be open one day then not for a few days after that is because they may need a few days to adjust the atttraction, then after the adjustment they will open it back up and test it again.

If this is true we will miss it by a month!! Oh well, that's alright, it's just exciting to know that it might open early and getting to see it almost completed in Oct. will be very exciting as well!! Thanks, Pam.

Well you never know Pam, they might start to go really fast and then there will be soft openings in Oct., then you will get to ride it! You never know, anything can happen!

Thanks you so much for the information I am heading down to the World in November and that would be so perfect if it opens for soft openings. I am so excited

Don't forget we have a nice long hurricane season to get through between now and November. Those little things tend to throw the occasional monkey wrench in construction schedules. Hopefully no repeat of last year.

Thats true, I never even thought of that. Although I wish it wouldn't, It probabbly will. A rep point for you for reminding us this!

One thing to point out though is that the last hurricane season didn't push them behind and it was a very active season last year. It is unlikely that this year will be as active as last year. These people are pros and with earily warning the only thing that could put them back is structural damage, being that the attraction is pretty much completely steel it would be hard for this to happen. The only thing I can think of is a tree could fall and obstruct the attractoin, but that is if they have the tree planted by then and if it were to happen the tree wouldn't take that long to remove.

^^Yep...DO NOT plan a trip based on the November date. It's possible, but I would put it at less than 50%.

Cool! We are booked for November so it would be great if it was open and even if it isn't there's lots of other cool stuff opening this year.

Thanks Pam

If they can get stuff testing by that time, then more power to them. I'm hoping that keeping the construction ahead of schedule doesn't mean they are slacking off in any possible detail.

Nah...nothing is being skimped on as far as details. If the weather holds up, the construction doesn't hit any snags, the test and adjust goes well (ride and effects), then MAYBE a late 2005 opening will be possible.

Heck...if they turn on the money faucet (like Matt O. did for Space Mtn. at Disneyland) it could open in Fall...just kidding.
