soda refills in all parks

At the parks, it should be all about water. If you want something with more flavor, by all means, order another drink at your meals, but when you're done eating, put down the cup and pick up a bottle of water or keep hitting the water bubblers throughout the parks. Or you can keep going back to Club Cool constantly until Kinley is spurting through your pores

Water, Water, Water...........thats all you need to rehydrate yourself. You drink water during your activity, and Powerade or Gatorade after. Protein shakes w/milk or without should be taken 45 min. after your activity. Never drink milk when its hot out or your working out, it produces flem and will make you feel sick. Soda contains carbon dioxide, which is why you will feel full, bloated, and tired. Avoid a drink full of sugar if you can help it. Sugar free lemonade or sugar free ice tea is a great alternitive to water.
Agreed. I should have specified that I drank those shakes about a half an hour after my Workout. As far as sodas in WDW, I generally drink less of them there because I am already consuming so much sugar already. (Dole whips, Chocolate something). I generally drink a lot of water because I will get a headache if I do not. Between the sugar and the 2-3 cups of coffee that I drink when on vacation, I need something to dilute all of that. I probably go through at least 2-3 of those 24 oz. bottles per day.

I drink water and vitamin water in the parks since they added that this year. I do have a soda with food sometimes and wish they would add more sugar free options such a range of coke, fanta, sprite zero versions. In fact change them all to zero versions and don't give people the option of a sugar version. Soda's are a large factor in obesity in the US.

Perhaps. However, that sugar substitute stuff causes dame bramage and whatnot. I will stick to good old fashioned sugar and high fructose corn syrup in moderation.:)

Are you sure it's the suger free version that does that? :veryconfu
Ha-Ha. My point was that I am apprehensive about altered things. If something has no calories or no sugar, I have to wonder what the heck they did to it to get it that way. There are numerous conflicting reports as to the effects of sugar substitutes. However, with sugar, I know what I am getting and I know that in moderation it will not be that bad, as with most things. The less fooled around with my food is, the better. I like to use the margarine comparison. It was all the rage for some time until people realized that bugs will not even eat it. I eat butter because I know what it does to me and I know how to combat the effects of it. Not to mention that it tastes better. In the end, I generally shudder when I hear the word artificial. It is the same feeling I get when I think about microwave dinners, pasta sauce from a jar, frozen pancakes, audiobooks, and aluminum baseball bats.(you probably will not get that last reference given your location).:)

I'll try to get this thread back on topic and away from the "I know what's best for everyone else" comments.

I didn't even know there were such things in the parks. So you can buy one cup and continue to refill it throughout the day?? Doesn't seem "legal" kinda like refillable mugs ( I swear I'm not starting that again, just an example) but I imagine people do it anyway. But is this "refillable station" thing different??

I agree. I will drink one can of regular soda than the three a day I used to drink of diet. I still occasionally drink diet or sugar free beverages but I try to limit them, just as I try to limit my soda intake in general. When I'm at WDW, I drink soda with one/maybe two meals and then drink water the rest of the time.

Everyone in my family has cut back on their soda intake and all of us feel 50 times better. We have more energy, digestion has improved, we just feel healthier. We keep 100% juice in the fridge and I make fresh lemonade with a limited amount of sugar, along with drinking plenty of water.

I can't always drink water, sometimes you need something with a little flavor and fizz. But the sizes of the soda cups I see are just appalling. It isn't soda that's a problem, it's the PORTION of it. You may want that Big Gulp, but you don't *need* it. I've also noticed that pricing can influence people "Well, the large is only 10 cents more, might as well get it." I don't allow myself to fall into this trap. I choose the smaller size because it's all I need even if I'm not getting as much for my money. I'd rather use those extra calories on a Dole Whip! Like others have said, enjoy the first cup of soda and then move on to water, even if the refills are free! Your body will thank you :D

Condescension is a lot worse than a little off-topic friendly banter. However, I offer my humble apology for thread-drifting.

I wasn't trying to be condescending, and I have no problems with a little thread drift, I just get tired of everyone telling everyone else how to live. I agree 100% with your assessment of soda, it's absolutely not good for you. But moderation is key, and more than that, I just don't care if people choose to drink soda, or pop (it's real name ;) ).

I apologize if I came off condescending, it was unintentional.

But I do want an answer to my question about if these refilling stations are like the refillable mug situation. :) Not really allowed, but people take advantage anyway.

I am also intrigued by these 'refill stations' of which you speak. I was last at Epcot in December and I think the Electric Umbrella was closed so this could be new.

Do you buy a mug and then go back and refill it throughout the day?

To quote the great news caster mr Ron Burgundy

"It's so darn hot... milk was a bad choice."

HILARIOUS!!! My favourite anchorman from my favourite comedy movie of all time! :ROFLOL:

And for the record, I didn't mean I drink milk when it is REALLY hot outside or after exercise or anything like that, I usually drink a couple tall, cool glasses of milk with or after dinner and more so during the winter for some reason.

I do like how at these stations, you can put in as much or as little ice as you would like. Nothin upsets me more than having a large cup of ice with a splash of coke or lemonaide. If anything, it might be more efficient to have the stations. It seems it would speed time up at these counter service restaurants: cutting time it takes for the CM to fill your drink. Unless they eliminate the CM filling up the drinks....

Oh, a tad off topic, MOST of the lemonaide is light. Sometimes I like that as my alternative to coke to cut back on sugar when I plan on getting a dole whip of strawberry swirls.

No worries. I was actually more or less being a smart -alec. As far as your question, I do believe that there are cups that you can buy in the parks that are separate from the resort mugs that are refillable. I think they are sort of like collectors cups. I seem to remember getting one of these once, years ago. However, do not quote me on that. BTW, POP is a hotel.

haha, POP is a hotel, pop is a soft drink beverage. :ROFLOL: No hard feelings. If they do have unlimited refill souvenir cups for sale, they didn't seem to make it very apparent when I was there last Jan. I'm not sure I would even want one anyway, my girlfriend and I split whatever the largest size drink at the Cantina de San Angel and it lasted us for a while as we walked around, long enough that we got tired of carrying it. But I would still be interested in the unlimited refills for our upcoming January trip mostly for souvenir purposes if the cost difference is negligible. Anyone have any idea on pricing??

"POP" is a hotel.
"Pop" is a term for carbonated beverages north of the Mason Dixon line.
"Soda" is a term for carbonated beverages south of the Mason Dixon line.

I live in Wisconsin and everything's a "coke" to me... I would probably shoot myself if I used the word "pop". That's what I call my dad. :D

I don't see how anyone can "need" a coke.

But enough of that, you're saying you can go about the parks and get more soda for free whenever? In what kind of cup? Your resort's cup is just for your resort, right? I wasn't even aware of this? Are you sure the one at EU isn't being utilized in a way other than was intended?

Disney giving free coke away just doesn't make sense... especially since no one profits from it.

Oh and the drain bramage comment... I get being wary but does that mean we make unsubstantiated claims that these sugarfree beverages cause brain damage? Oh, it does? Forgive me, I was brought up thinking I had to actually support my arguments...

I've been drinking the sugarfree stuff for years... no brain damage yet. I get how aspertame (sp?) isn't great for kids, but as far as I know sucralose (splenda) is sort of taking over and has been shown to be safer as a sugar substitute.

I rarely drink water and never drink Gatorade/Powerade. I only drink milk when I'm hot and thirsty from exercise, hot and thirsty from heat I'll drink either milk or beer.

:lol: - Believe it or not, I do the same! But be careful - they say that when you are hot and thirsty, for every beer you drink you should have an equal amount of water (as a general rule of thumb), otherwise the beer will add to your dehydration.

Milk absolutely does not produce phlem. That is an old wive's tale. It will coat your throat and esophogus, however, and that will make some people feel uncomfortable. Or not. If you have acid reflux, that's a good thing.

Sorry, but your wrong.......milk does cause phlem, along with citrus drinks like orange juice and lemonade. I can tell you why if you would like but this isnt the thread for that, LOL!!!!
