Socks with sandals seems, well...european, which the OP is. To appear less touristy in the US ditch the socks and go native!

No matter what enjoy!!!

Day One: go to Little Miss Matched at Downtown Disney. Purchase the no-show Sandal socks. They don't work with every type of sandal but they cover the heel and sides where blisters normally occur and they're pretty freakin' adorable so if they show, who cares. and yes...I realize men may not enjoy these but at least they won;t show as much as your usual white or black sports socks :hurl:

I really agree with the person who said it depends on your age. I think after 40 you worry about comfort. My husband would NEVER wear socks with his sandals around here, but he does in Disney. He sometimes even wears his boots because he needs whatever is the most comfortable. I think you should wear whatever is the most comfortable for you!

I'm going to have to get some littlemissmatched sandal socks. :p

To the OP, I'm a waitress at an outside summer restaurant; when I'm wearing sneakers (trainers) I have both Smartwool and Cool max socks for the hot summer. I walk on pavement all day and the Smartwool and cool max really make a difference for happy feet. They keep the sweat off your foot and help prevent friction that causes blisters.
I don't wear sandals at disney because of the heat, I can't afford to have blisters when I return to work. So sneakers and smartwool for me.
If you are worried about blisters with your sandals and you don't want the socks with sandals taboo, you could always try a blister stick.

Only two rules should apply to any clothing worn in the park. Modest, and inoffensive. Anything else goes, whatever makes you feel comfortable, allows you to express yourself, or provides for a more pleasurable experience are fine. WDW is not Florida - it has its own rules. While I might snicker and mutter to myself "Tourist" if I saw socks and sandals at the supermarket, I would never do that at the Magic Kingdom. It is YOUR day to enjoy the park, and whatever you wear, as long as it is modest and inoffensive, is your business and nobody else's.

Now, if you're out on International Drive, that's another story!

I used to be able to do the sandals with no socks. Now its cross-trainers and socks for me. I love my Jesus sandals but I cant handle a day in the parks with them anymore, socks or no socks. Just for the record, I too believe fashion sense goes out the window at the world.

I wear Crocs with or without no show socks depending on how cold it is. My feeling is wear what you want and are comfortable in. If people don't like it they don't need to look at you.Have an awesome trip.

Heading for the great escape.
Socks should only be worn with Crocs or sandals if your mum dresses you.

With all other footwear socks are acceptable but only if they require a volume nob.

My mum is dead.

I do not know what a "volume nob" might be...but I doubt I have one, lol.

I find my socks acceptable. If other people can't accept them...they will have to find some way to protect themselves, I guess. ;)

You can wear whatever you want but don't get upset if people snicker at you or you end up in a thread entitled "people of wdw".

Those are not the sort of people from whom I'd seek approval.

Those are the sort of people immature teenage girls worry about - not me, lol.

Believe me - I'd be much more upset if that sort of person did approve of me.

Its a little known fact that socks with sandals is punishable by ridicule here in the state of Florida. We do not tolerate such tomfoolery.

:p

HAHA! I was going to comment on here just to say the same thing

We, Floridians, laugh at anyone wearing socks with sandals. We live here year 'round and never feel the need to wear the two together. So if you see someone pointing and laughing, theyre Floridian and are laughing at your footwear

Normally, I wear socks with sneakers (trainers) but I think I'm going with plain flip flops tomorrow. I would love to go barefoot, but I'm country like that
