Socks or no Socks?

Shock horror to see anyone wearing socks with sandals!! My husband only wears sandals at WDW--so I get him to " wear them in" a few weeks before we go. No socks--less washing!!

When I worked at Disney and lived in Vista Lay...Vista WAY :lookaroun we used to have "Tacky Tourist" parties and dress like the people that get made fun of in all the parks. There were a lot of socks with sandals at those parties. It's all in good fun...just a little behind the scenes ribbings of the tourist dress code.

My friends made fun of me a bit on our last trip because I brought all skirts and dresses. I had biking shorts underneath - the nice breathable, moisture wicking ones that are really lightweight. They thought that "dressing up" for the parks was ridiculous until they realized that I was a lot cooler and more comfortable than either of them.

I also had Sketchers Shape-up sandals as footwear (no socks) which they thought looked funny because the sole is a little thicker in spots but they were very comfortable, cool, easy to walk in and I ended up working out my calves and butt without even feeling it.

Nothing like coming home from a two week vacation with a fine looking butt :animwink:

Reefs are the most comfortable flip flops availabe IMO. I wear them for my whole trip to Disney every timewe go and have never had even so much as a blister. On topic though, if I needed socks, I would wear sneakers with them,NOT sandals.

I wear whatever is most comfortable for the occasion. There's no reason to bring the "rules of fashion" with you through the turnstiles.

Yeah, about that. I agree function should be high on the list of concerns. However, some rules need to be followed:

1. I know central Fl is hot, I live here, but cover up! I don't need to see your huge stomach hanging out over your cargo shorts and your side fat trying to escape your tank top.

2. It's Disney world, not a night club. There are children around. So again I say, cover up!

3. packs should all be collected and burned.

4. Socks worn with sandals just looks silly.

I bet these parties included you wearing checkered pants and black fishnet stockings and white high heels on different occasions :ROFLOL:

Depends on your age. Generally...

If you are twelve to twenty-five or thirty, you won't want to wear the socks because you'll be worried about what other people think and fashion.

If you are older than that, you'll be worried about comfort.

I take comfort over fashion. :)

This. If you decide not to wear socks because of someone else, those same people won't care if you end up with blisters or sore feet. At WDW, do what ever you think is best for you, not anyone else.

Ya'll forgot about Keen sandals for men. The Newport style are great and protect your toes from being smashed when a stroller rolls over them accidentally.

Believe me it happens and nothing messes up a perfect day like a sore foot. PS Without socks

You mean these?

These are so comfortable and no blister walking the 10+ miles a day. I always wear either these with no socks or walking sneakers with short socks and my feet are still felling good by the end of the day.

I watch sooooo many people in WDW walking around in $2.00 flip-flops which have no arch support at all. It really makes me wonder how they do it.

Yes these are the ones that look great, wash and get wet well and look good with shorts too.

Plus they stay on during rides and protect your toes.

I've been breaking in some Rider flip flops and I haven't had any issue walking long distances in them the last time I had a pair by them. Your foot is pretty well padded in them that you don't need to look silly and wear socks with them.

I wore the last pair to a Six Flags for 7 or so hours and was blister free and comfy the whole time. Just don't wear them to a crowded bar, that's how I broke my old pair.

"Dressing Up" is a must! You should see the outfits I have bought for my next trip :)
