What will get me laughin is that later on, we'll all be getting ready to see a movie on California. Then, when it opens, we find out its a movie that we never would have expected in a million years.

Its been announced as Soarin Over California. Therefore, despite the fact that we're what, three years away from the opening year, it will NEVER, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, NO IF, ANDS OR BUTS ABOUT IT be changed...

Chances are . . . and I mean chances. . . based on official announcement (which is VERY high) is that it is based on DCA. . . almost entirely (despite footage taken to "land" in Walt Disney World).
Of COURSE the possibility exists that this won't happen. Anything can happen. Maybe a technical failure could cancel the Stitch project.
If this wasn't announced, I wouldn't have pressed the "fact" so much, but it HAS been officially announced.

Something we need to realize...Soarin' Over California very well showcases The Land. We start off nearing San Francisco, as we fly over the ocean, so we see a beautiful landscape CAN exist where people live. Then we proceed to view humans at one with natural resources, canoeing down a beautiful forest river, we see a mountain waterfall, snow-capped mountains, the desert, the ocean--almost the entire film is about how Californians use the land to their advantage for irrigation in Palm Springs, for enjoyment with the canoeing, skiing, etc, and it shows that humans can coexist with the land. There are two scenes that need to be taken out--the Los Angeles scene and the Disneyland scene...those are the only scenes that do not easily tie into The Land, so replace the last 30 seconds of the movie with images of how Disney World works with the land, get a new preshow, and it fits in completely. Guests are heading out to California to see how humans are utilizing, while not destroying, the land. It very much complements the story of The Circle of Life, and creates a beautiful ride with incredible score--we are talking about the most popular ride at California Adventure, and California Adventure isn't nearly as popular as Epcot--people will love this ride. And "why are we going to California?" "Because they have a diverse topography and they have not overused the land in many places--much of the beauty of the state is still enjoyed by Californians every day". By the way, it's less than two years before it opens :animwink:

Hey man, where have you guys been? California is a total craphole mired in it's on overspending. Oh yeah, this is Disney, let's forget about all that and look at some wind generators in Palm Spings. Never mind that they can't power the indian casino - Here look at this guys' feet in front of you.
You guys a really desperate, and before you ask, yes, I've gone on the CA version, so I can confirm it sucks. The only thing that you have to look forwar to is your own disappointment.

So...you apparently have not visited the national parks in California...or looked out your window on the 13th floor of Paradise Pier Hotel in March at the snow-capped mountains in the distance? I don't think many Californians would like your attitute toward their state, but to each his own...99% of guests will be blown away by Soarin', just like they are at Cali Adventure. Get over the feet...they didn't want the capacity on this ride to be 500 guests per hour. California has economic problems, but is still a beautiful state topographically...get out and see it sometime. I'm not even from California and I'm insulted by your description of the state as a "total craphole". Los Angeles is as much the state of California as New York City is the state of New York--most of California is low on smog and high on wilderness.

ok i'm a freaking californian... and ur calling my state a craphole... i'm sorry... who do u think u r... really now... sure u've been to dl and dca.. but what about the rest of the state... have u been anywhere else besides the LA area... if u actually visit the rest of the state ur opinion might change... yes i know arnold is the gov. now... woot... big freaking deal... yeah he wants to charge indian casinos... well heres the story... the money that the indian casinos make are donated to other tribes that have no income... ok i am getting politcal here... i'm going to stop cuz i can go on forever... i don't think u know what california is like... and just by one ride u think u know it... thats just not right.

Personally, I disagree with yours 100 percent.
Mine: Soarin' is the best Disney attraction since ToT, at least until Mission:SPACE opened.
Who cares about feet dangling, big deal.
Ride "Back to the Future" and enjoy a room full of tilting DeLoreans.

Well, I wouldn't put the ride down as being as thrilling as ToT, but I would put it down as one of the better Disney rides to come out in some time. I rode it last Christmas.
But, I must say that I also got to ride HMH. Now there is something Disney got right. We got out of the ride and I looked at my Dad, he smiled and said "Wow, let's go ride it again."
I wish, wish, wish they'd bring that to WDW for the holidays. It was fantastic.
I would also say that comparing this ride to ToT is a bad comparison. One, thrill ride. The other more an *experience*. Being a roller coaster junkie, I like my thrill rides which ToT is, but I also enjoy a well-done non-thrill ride that gives you more of an experience which Soarin definately gives. I think it'll be a great addition over at Epcot.

I would consider Soarin' a thrill ride...I certainly felt like flying over California at 50 feet in the air w/ just a seatbelt, wind blowing through my hair was thrilling...not to the level of the ToT, but for anyone who is remotely afraid of heights, it's scary 
The technology, alone, makes this ride thrilling. The "ooooh"s and "aaaaah"s from everyone around me did not suggest boredom, at least. It's really an incredible ride system that almost anyone can enjoy due to a lack of intensity--just an all around kewl ride! I would argue it will be more popular than Mission: SPACE, simply because it doesn't really make people sick.

I never meant to imply that Soarin' was in any way as thrilling as ToT. Not even close.
I simply meant that not since ToT has Disney produced a ride this unique, enjoyable, and re-rideable. It is uniquely Disney. The reactions of guests as they exit Soarin' tells the story.

Exactly. Soarin' has something for everyone, and it's the one ride at Cali Adventure that really shows California for what it is...because it really SHOWS California...that's why everyone loves Soarin'. I thought it was better than Indy :lookaroun

The Bikinis would be cool... but Soarin' over Swampland USA does not excite me :lol:
