I live near Busch Gardens Williamsburg and today they open their "new" ride Europe in the air. Well I have not rode it yet but hope to tonight but have seen alot of pictures from the ride and around the ride. Their ride appears to be a knockoff of Soarin right down to the theme of the ride, scents during the ride, ride logos, arival and departure gates and Cast uniforms. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing or not.....

Yeah, I noticed that to! We were there about 3 weeks ago and I was thinking the same thing. I think though the actually ride mechanism will be the same as the leprecan ride (forgot the name) and Questor... But Let me know what you think... I will be going next weekend to take my son to Ramp Jam:wave:

Your actually seated on a ride system exactly like star tours. They used to have a ride at Busch called Corkscrew Hill they have just changed the movie and themeing.

I definitely see the similarities to Soarin', but it still looks really interesting. Some of the footage of France they showed in that video also reminded me of Impressions de France.

Well im back from Busch Gardens and a couple or rides on Europe in the Air. I must say its a god ride and is 100% better than corkscrew hill ever was. It does however have very many things in common with Soarin. The rock tunnel music even sounds like the the music played in the waiting line. The smell effect would have not even been noticed if I wasnt looking for it. It smelled the same in there before the ride started than it did during and after the ride. The video is very clear but I didnt see where it was 7 time clearer than broadcast high deffinetion as Busch has said it would be. Also the refresh rate of the video monitor didnt seem to be able to keep up. Anytine there was side to side camera movement the screen was blurry. Overall it is a good ride and I will do it over and over again...good work Busch

No, its nothing like the Star Tours simulators. If I remember correctly, each seat moves individually.

Any pictures of the similar costumes, queues, and theaters in question?

And yes, Soarin' is now on the hitlist of every major Theme Park as something popular that can legally and cheaply be imitated enough (Because the concept is so simple) and take a visit to any Amusement manufacturer's website and you can find all kinds of new mechanisms designed to mimic Soarin'. Mississippi as last I heard is even trying to build their own as a government sponsored Tourist Trap. The Ferrari Theme Park in Dubai had a tenuous enough excuse to build a "Soarin' over Italy" that will be opening with the park. Each one of these are hardly even TRYING to disguise the fact that they are Soarin' Imitators because the theme of Flying and Airports isn't exactly trademarked.

In short, look for the Soarin' seal for soothing flight ride authenticity!

Perhaps the knock-offs will motivate Disney to update/fix up the current version of Soarin'? Wishful thinking, I know....
