Soarin' Building

I know that Soarin' is going in between Imagination and The Land. It's been awhile(WAY too long)since I've been there, so I have a few questions:

1. Is the theme of the building going to fit in with the other pavilions?
2. Is the building going to be an exact clone of the DCA version?
3. How big is the building at DCA?
4. Are the capacity and hourly ride-thru numbers going to be bigger in Fla.?
5. What will happen to the greenhouses on the side of The Land? For some reason I seem to remember that some of the greenhouses are part of the Living With The Land ride.
6. Will be part of the Land or is it a stand alone pavilion?

I love film based attractions. I'm not really impressed with circle-vision 360 anymore, but I dig motion simulators and 3-D fims, so I'm looking forward to this. I'm happy that Disney decided to put a new attraction in FW West to pull some of the traffic away from TT and M:S. I was hoping for Soarin' Over America in WS, but I'll be just fine with it in FW.
:sohappy: :D

Peace Love and Mickey....

ok, here is my understanding of how it will all go. i could be wrong though.

1. it will probobly just be a plain non-themed building that won't be visible from out in front of it, with no enterance towards futureworld becasue.......

6. It would be part of the land pavillion and you would enter through the land.

here is an aerial view of that area: http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=2229&y=15692&z=17&w=1

as for as your question 2,3 and 4, i have no idea.

5. There is room for a ride vehicle back there without getting in the way of any of Land's greenhouses. The greenhouss that are used for the boat ride are in the back of the building (west), not the south side.

I also tend to think that the show building(s) for Soarin' will be attached to the land pavillion...no reason to make it stand alone right?:veryconfu :) :)

I still get a kick out of the circle-vision shows. The only part that bites is having to stand for the whole show.

Bingo!!!! After walking around WDW for days the LAST thing I want to do is stand during an attraction. The technology is getting old but it's still impressive. Now if they would just put rotating seats in it would be great.

Hi bamboo 7. Thanks for the info. How will it not be visible from out in front of it? I know the imagineers are brilliant, but that'll be a hard building to hide. How big is the Land pavilion? More importantly, how roomy is it on the inside? I know it's busy with the Garden Grill restaurant and Living with the Land ride. Is it big enough to take that kind of traffic?

Peace Love and Mickey....

If you CLICK HERE, you can see that there is a large amount of space between this pavilions, in fact, enough room that would be capable of holding TWO Soarin' buildings. The Soarin' buildings are in relative size to this area of Epcot. Relative sizes have NOT been altered. Two copies fit with apparent ease.

Rumor suggests that the "Food Rocks!" show will be closing in order to make room for the internal (and possibly ONLY) entrance to Soarin'. The area that Food Rocks! currently occupies may be turned into an entrace, with part of or all of the queue and perhaps even maybe a preshow area. This is all speculation, of course, though...

SirNim--

That photo is great!

There is a nice patch of grass and landscaping between Imagination and the Land. I predict that grassy area will be able to STAY, with the Soarin' building hidden behind the trees.

Also-- keep in mind that The Land is technically a 3-story building (you enter on the middle floor) . So the Imax-sized Soarin' theaters should be able to sit comforably backstage, with very little of it sticking above the tree line.

The building will be able to fit - and hide - with extreme ease.

Also Keep in mind the Queue & Preshows will be inside the Food Rocks area, so that will reduce the size of the Actual Show Building also

Soarin' is a ride from DCA. There is three rows of i think 10 or somethin(but not sure) and they sit on these glider things with your feet dangling. The ride lifts you up itno this IMAX kind of screen surrounding you. The ride simulates you are flying. Also, there is air blowing lightly on you and there are smells. Hope this helps!:)

Why put it in the Land? There's enough there already. Why not put it in The Living Sea and have you glide around under water with Nemo or something? That would give me a reason to go to the pavillion.

Strong rumor has it that Food Rocks WILL be kept somehow. Although alterations will have to be made.

Hide the Soarin' building? I would be VERY impressed if they could do that...the building is about 60 feet tall and very large...hourly capacity is about 2000 guests/hour, so there isn't much need to raise that capacity...I would think it would make the most sense to have the entrance from the outside, and have it exit into the Land w/ the area currently home to Food Rocks serving as a post-show and gift shop...it just might hurt this attraction locating it within The Land...it might confuse people. I would think it would make more sense to have guests exit into The Land, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the other attractions there.

It could easilly be built without being difficult due to the large hill that is right in front of the land. Remember, you walk up this hill and enter the Land on it's second floor. You then go down stairs to the location of Food Rocks, which is rumored to be where you enter the soarin attraction. So the ride building for soarin could be easilly hid behind that same hill that you walk up to enter the land. It would then be hidden the same way that all of the land's greenhouses and all the backstage buildings are hidden.
