So...why exactly was the prism sculpture removed from Epcot's entrance fountain?

To be honest, I'm one if the few who actually admire Leave a Legacy. Maybe it's because I've immortalized in a tiny 2inch-by 2inch etch-n-sketch version of me. :)
Do you actually think ANYONE else looked at your photo and was impressed with your....well I do't even know what, but ....ok I just don't get the appeal.

We really don't believe that Leave a Legacy belongs where it is at, and wholeheartedly wish that it were moved or gone. It is a real eyesore in the front of the park. JMHO.
I really can't understand the creative thought that was behind the redo of the entrance of EPCOT Center. It went from Sci-Fi Futuristic coolness to 2001 cold scary bleakness. It's like Blade Runner without the pretty lights.

so wait - it it was such a money maker - and said here- people are and were willing to buy up space, then why stop selling? seems very "un-Disney"

If I had to guess, sales had tapered off to the point that it was no longer cost-effective to pay the cast members to man the booths selling the epitaph pictures and overseeing the installation of new plaques.

I'm almost tempted to create a spoof of this where the man is standing at Leave A Legacy, and the reflections back are Dreamfinder, SMRT-1, Buzzy, and the class of scuba kids from Horizons.

But that would be disrespectful to both Vietnam veterans and the artist who created the original piece.
Do it!

Nobody might care, but it's still a fun thing to see whenever my family and I enter the park. I actually think the granite structures give some pizzazz to the entrance. Just my old stinky opinion anyway.

@Marc Gil i get the appeal of having your own personal mark in the middle of all the magic.

I just wish they hadn't made something so tall and ...so urban?... I'm not sure the right word.. I think the whole thing would have been better if it was complete & full of pictures. While I'm sure it's a nice feature for the families that have a picture.. for the rest it looks sorta abandoned.

Agree.
Perfect example showing how the attitude towards the future has shifted dramatically over the years.

It used to be positive, exciting, and forward thinking.
Now it is somewhat muddled, unfocused in direction, and in some opinions bleak.

Much like the currant Park itself these days...sadly.

Breaks my heart.

EPCOT Center was absolutely awesome on so many levels, most of all intellectually, back in the day.
Today most visitors seem to have little desire to *look beyond Tomorrow*.....and when in a Theme Park that used to specialize in inspiring people about the future, there is little left now to do just that.

:(

I just LOVE (read: not) how a question about the lucite sculpture has become yet another thread to about the Leave a Legacy walls. One really has little to do with the other. If they wanted to bring back the old lucite sculpture, there is no reason not to- certainly nothing having to do with the LaL.

Although one hopes that if they actually wanted something "futuristic," they would do a lot better than the "Logan's Run" looking lucite column. Just sayin'.

I think it has more to do with the view of the sculpture.

IMO...They have nothing going in where Rockin Robots once stood in Innoventions and there are PLENTY of wall space there....Just slap the tiles there if anyone wants to see them..And get the plaza back to a nice open space..
