Guess what? That's not Rod Serling. Rod died a long time ago. That's Robert Steven Rhine on Tower of Terror. He's also the creator and founder of "Girls and Corpses" magazine.
Hmmm, I guess it came off as I didn't know that, but I do...lol. I just meant the magic the level of detail they went into to make you think Rod Serling is telling the story. That's part what makes the attraction so amazing.

I totally agree, it's probably my favorite peice of Disney information! Rob does such a spot on impersonation, and his main gig blows people away lol

There is a guy at work bound and bent he is going to take his family to WDW in a few months. He is as excited as his children. This is his first time. I've talked in great lengths about how different the rides are. He sounds very excited about stuff like Pirates and Haunted Mansion and I think he "gets" the uniqueness of them.

However, have you had people look at you like you have three heads when you try to explain what makes some of these attractions great?

I am always happy to see guys like you are describing looking forward to their first trip, and with their kids!

Yes, there are some people who don't get it and that's okay. If everybody was into Disney World, it would be impossible to keep the prices in line with my budget! :D

Some people flat out refuse to understand ride themes and stories even after you explain it to them. I've seen people, adults, refer to Test Track as a "race car", even after it being explained to them... even after riding it. At that point I wonder if they can follow the plot of any movies.

However, have you had people look at you like you have three heads when you try to explain what makes some of these attractions great? Like how can you sell Small World to people? I have a hard time.

"Well, it's a boat ride with a bunch of dolls singing the same song over and over...............hey remember that Simpsons reference.............."

I have to confess I still have sometimes problems selling IASW to myself, it took years (no actually decades) before I finally entered it again after my first ride in 1982 where I was incredibly bored and angry that we wasted more than half an hour of waiting time when being there only for ONE day. I can stand it now, but it's not my favorite ride to be honest.
But I admit, it's sometimes hard to explain even some of the best attractions to people who are not theme park or disney buffs.

To each his own, I say...

Yeah, there are some who cannot fathom my obsession with everything Mouse - could be because I'm getting older, the whole mortality thing is starting to be in my rear view mirror and I'm trying to recapture the magic of my childhood while I can still remember it? That, and it's just a blast! Sights, smells, everything, completely an immersion experience. When you walk down Main Street and smell that popcorn....heaven!
