Well I made it through the blizzard!! We got 30 inches of snow! I have snow 1/2 way up my french doors. At one point last night it snowed 3-4 inches an hour. The govenor closed the roads in CT due to the inability to clear the roads and cars that were stuck on the roads. Plows were getting stuck or running off the roads. At one point the plows had to stop because they couldn't see (my husband is a town manager, haven't seen him since yesterday morning) ) I just came in from cleaning off and shoveling out one of our cars, it took me 2 and a half hours. One good thing, we didn't lose power!! So what do you think? I can't plan a Disney trip fast enough!!!

I was and still am, totally amazed at how much cheaper it is to live down here. Just think of what you pay for heat alone and it adds up to quite a bunch of money. Even if you rent (heated) believe me, it's somewhere in what you pay for rent. I had a small place in Vermont and have saved over $2500.00 per year on heating fuel costs alone. And my electricity bill, including heat and AC, averages about $65.00 per month. Rents are lower because upkeep is cheaper. Taxes are lower because they don't have to spend millions per year on snow removal. They plant flowers instead.I am also a essential CT employee but Live in Massachusetts on the border. Had to get up at 2am in the thick of it all just to make it to windsor. Mass crews had roads cleared on my way in except some exit ramps and then I hit CT on 91 and there was never any plowing going on. Helped dig out a couple strandeds on the way on 91..and yes...dreamed of disney since yesterday,,,as a matter of fact, looking for options today since i was let go early, options of jobs south of the border if not orlando...We've wanted to move down there for the longest time but always decide not to cause of a pay cut we would take...but screw it, im tired of this
good to hear you are safe...
Same here in RI. We got at least 30 inches of snow and the roads were just opened up in RI and MA at 4 PM. I don't see any traffic on our road though. The TV said that 25% of the traffic lights are not working in RI due to power failures. The City of Providence will be a mess for a while because they have to load up and truck away the snow on most all of the streets. Interstate Rte 95 goes right through the middle of it and that is looking good, but it is the ramps and other local streets that are a mess.
It would take me 15 minutes tops to plan a trip to WDW at the most right now. We are DVC and all it takes is a vacancy anywhere at WDW, and bingo we book it online. Then book a flight on Southwest and we are in Orlando in less than 3 hours. Unfortunately, we wont be back in FL until at least March so WDW is just a dream right now. ....Sigh.....

Don't let lower salary keep you from making the move. You will be surprised. Less pay doesn't always mean a lowered standard of living.
Where in RI are you? (I grew up in Foster-Glocester)
I actually lived in Scituate 'til I was 12.
It's a Small World - pun intended!
I'm with y'all!! North jersey is getting hammered!!
Indeed it is. I come from a big family, so I'm sure you've met some of my relatives. Not a very deep gene pool there....
