Snow Day!

I know it's technically Saturday and not a real snow day but, the Philly/DC/NYC area is about to get hammered with an early season snowstorm. Here in Philly the news is saying it's going to be around 12-18 inches when it's all done by tomorrow AM.

Usually I love the snow, but the hubby and I gave each other a lovely NYC Christmas trip for tomorrow. A night at the Waldorf, ice skating in Rockefeller Center and seeing the Radio City Christmas Show...now i'm afraid we won't actually be able to get there. The bus service for the company we're taking suspended all service between Philly and NYC today. Last resort would be to take the train for quite a price. Not sure exactly what to do. Anyway, enough of my complaining....

What's everyone's favorite thing to do on a snow day? Shovel? Drink hot chocolate? I'll be finishing up wrapping and listening to Xmas tunes all day. Thank goodness I got all my shopping done last night..

 Getting hammered by the storm here in Northern VA! So glad my general manager decided not to open the store today *whew*

I'll probably watch some Christmas movies, bake, tidy up the apartment, and look forward to the hockey game tonight. Also I'll be glad not to be out driving in this mess!

Hopefully you can still make your trip! *fingers crossed* Be careful regardless!

OMG...that sounds like the perfect day! Love NYC!
Hope you get to do it!

I've been up since 3:30 trying to keep busy. The plan is to get up at about that time tomorrow and begin our drive to WDW. The original plan was to leave this morning, but this lovely storm has put the kabash on that. :fork: :fork: :fork:

Here's hoping that travel plans can be tweaked but not canceled and that everyone keeps safe. :xmas:

Aw my little NYC trip is nothing compared to you getting to head to WDW in the morning! No wonder you can't sleep...I can never sleep in the days heading up to my trips.

It's so frustrating watching continuous hours of weather coverage on ABC/NBC and them saying everything except the hours of when the snow is supposed to stop. They keep saying "early morning"...is that 1am, 4am, 7am?

I just checked the forecast on Action News' website and the pictures of little clouds don't have any snow falling from them from about 4AM on. I'm hoping that's right. We checked some cities south of here on 95 and the snow looks like it should end before midnight around the DC area and even earlier the further south you go. That should be clear sailing on 95 in the early morning, but we'll see. We're not leaving unless we're sure.

Um it was suppose to start snowing in CT by noon. It is now 6pm and there has been no snow. I've cancelled my plans for the day and stayed inside for nothing. What the :fork:

Usually I love snow days, but on Thursday night we flew home from WDW. We were due to land at Gatwick at 7.05 am, pick up our car, and make the 4 hour drive home. Instead, Gatwick airport was closed due to snow, we had to land in Manchester at 8.30, wait on the plane until 9.30, then take a bus at 11.00 which got to Gatwick at 4.00. We picked up our car, and got home at around 8.00pm.

I wouldn't exactly call this an early storm, more like a seasonal snow storm.

As it is, its about 12 PM here on Saturday Night. I live right at the George Washington Bridge, and there are about 2-3 of snow. It has not stopped, but it is pretty much just blowy stuff. No real storm to speak of.

Ah, snow days. It's so weird how in different areas different amounts of snow mean such different things haha. 40cm here means that schools/etc will be closed but if people can get to work the malls and everything will be open. Good times.
My snow day favs include tea and watching the storm.. yes, I'm like 80.

Hope everyone gets to their respected destinations safe and sound!

I must have picked up again after I went to sleep. We had about a foot of very dry snow.

So sorry to hear! Glad you're ok with it though. I'd be a little psycho about it...

We made it to NYC by train since all buses were cancelled. It was well worth it and very beautiful. Streets were a mess but sidewalks were cleared by early morning.
