Snorkeling at Castaway Cay Question?

I was wondering if I'm able to use my own Snorkel and Mask at Castaway Cay and use the Snorkel Lagoon for free. In the past, I've always rented the equipment but have my own gear. Also, if this is possible, I'm thinking that they require everyone to wear their vest to snorkel so will they will they just give out the vests? Thanks

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your own mask, snorkel and fins, and yes you are required to wear a vest and it is provided at no additional charge.

When you go, stay to the left of the area and travel all the way out to the boundaries before you start exploring back from there. Most of the sunken "artifacts" and largest populations of marine life are there.

Thanks so much for the info. I searched everywhere and couldn't find answers. I've snorkeled twice and always rented. My gear is so much better. LOL

Agreed! It's a real PITA putting a pair of fins in a suitcase...but well worth it.
It really is a nice environment, a lot of variety, hope you enjoy.

In 2005, we went on a Disney Cruise. My husband and grandmother both brought their own snorkling stuff. They had one of those floats you just lounge around on and both leaned over the edge of it and snorkled away. They did this in the regular swimming area and didn't wear a vest. No one looked at them funny or said anything to them. They saw lots of stuff there and never went to the actual snorkling place to the left. They did this right at Serenity Bay.

Also take either a tea bag from the ship or some baby shampoo. It really helps keep your mask from fogging up. Hopefully this helps.
