tell that to the Osborn lights crew who have been putting them up since august... :lookaroun

And the crew who put the lights on the castle, the crane was brought in to do that in september.

With regards to the osbourne lights, they have started testing them, i got to see a glimpse last night when i picked up my hubby from work. (you can see them when going through the world drive toll plaza. sorry no pics, i didn't have my camera with me and my cell phone is so basic i have no way of transfering the photos to my PC. They looked as good as ever.

two years ago they put up in between the hub and tomorrowland, and then moved after parade taping -- last year they just put up after the parade taping

hoping they go back to the tomorrowland plan this year . . .

We hated that they did it this way. We missed the tree entirely last year. Hopefully this year we will get to see the tree.

Am I the only one who misses the old stage and the old Xmas show?

That was definitely the best live production Disney has done, Christmas or otherwise. Also people who have worked on that stage have said that that was the best venue to perform at WDW due to it being the only stage with wings. It was a shame they never used it for more.
Also if you go by the Holiday Services building you will see that the DAK tree looks all ready to be located into its holiday position!
