I know many of you probably were watching, but for those who didn't see the Travel Channel special tonight on DVC, there was some footage at the end of the rooms at Bay Lake Tower (BLT), the recently "revealed" DVC property at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

The fact that people were in the model rooms in the episode leads me to believe that they should be open any day now at Saratoga.

If you didn't see the episode, it re-airs at 12 a.m..

Just as I feared, that show had more footage of non-WDW sites than WDW stuff. I enjoyed the parts that were about the WDW resort, but the rest was kind of a waste of time.

I was curious though, what game that family was playing in their room. Some kind of board game with cards, and one of the cards said "Peter Pan's Flight", I think. Just wondering if that's a game I may be interested in purchasing.

Same problem I anticipated, and same question I was going to ask!!!

Was that Walt Disney World Monopoly? It looked really, really cool!

According to someone on disboards, the preview center at Saratoga Springs has already opened. They took pics and posted square footage of the different villas.

I'm pretty surprised by how small the studios are. They're almost 100 sq ft smaller than a room in the original Contemporary and slightly smaller than a room at Caribbean Beach. It doesn't make a difference really, as BLT would be extremely popular even if the studios were value-sized.

Interesting, didn't know they were already open--thanks for the news!

As for the square footage, at 339 feet for a studio, it's higher than some of the rooms at AKV, and only slightly smaller than the other DVC properties. Given that it's a DVC property and not a typical resort, I think that is the better comparison (rather than the rest of the Contemporary).

I know Season Of Disney is on I Tunes for purchase. Does anyone think that this special will also be available for purchase on I Tunes in the near future?

While I liked yet another look at BLT, I wasn't that impressed with the overall show. It was similar to the DVD that DVC sends out.

Some themes were the same ("We're not like one of those nasty timeshare things you've heard about.") But, I thought the beyond-Disney focus was a departure from the DVD. And, I think it may well represent a new direction for DVC marketing. The Travel Channel specials have always been more or less extended advertisements, but the last few have been more blatant than most, and this one particularly so. I assume that Disney more or less wrote the script to the show. And, if they did, they spent a lot less time on Disney resorts, and a lot more time on other things---some Disney (cruise, Adventures) but many not---II exchanges, short stays, etc.

Reading between the lines, I'm guessing that the #1 reason people have been giving for not buying is "I'm not sure I want to go to Disney all the time." So, this is Disney's way to try to reach that segment of the market.

I thought it was pretty cheesy- and not in a good way.
But maybe it was justa bad combination of this commercial being timed with yesterday's big announcement...

Why is Amazon selling Disney Monoply for $149.99 What is so special about it(besides of course being Disney)?

They aren't. It's a third party selling through Amazon. My bet is that it's out-of-production, that's why the high price. That, or the seller is just trying to rip people off. In any case, you can buy them used off Amazon (still through third parties) starting at $14.xx.
