We will be using the Dining Plan during our visit in March. Last time we used the Plan we didn't use all our snack credits because it took too much time to figure what was allowed and what was not allowed.

Let me know what some of your favorite "Snacks" are on the Plan....I will be making a list to take on our trip.

We are staying at POR, so any snack suggestions for there would be great!

I agree. I used to be so confused as to what's considered a snack and what's not...

Recently, Disney has cleared this up by placing a little symbol next to the approved snacks. It made it easier.

I've used a snack credit for: Pastries in Epcot (France), the turkey leg (which was a snack for two!) and this year I used a snack credit for one of those pineapple floats in MK.

Why can't the Magical Star Cocktail be a snack....LOL

Enjoy!

We just got back and used our snack credits for frozen lamonades, smoothies, dole whips, soft pretzels and popcorn!!! There really is alot to choose for a snack credit!

There's really a lot to choose from and even if you don't see the DDP snack logo still ask... there were many times I was told yes that item is a snack (and there wasn't a logo to be seen anywhere)!

Also, don't forget... that if you don't use all your credits that a lot of the prepackaged snacks, cookies, etc. are a snack credit as well. They make great souvenirs for someone else (or for yourself for that matter)!

Yes, a good idea. In the past, we have used our leftover snack credits to purchase prepackaged mickey mouse shaped rice krispie bars to take home to my kids' friends. Among other places, they can be found at the candy store/bakery on Main Street on your way out of heaven... er, I mean, MK.

I agree, ask, because there are a ton of things that are considered snacks that may not be noted on a menu. One of the best we had onn our last vacation a few weeks ago was the Dole whip pineapple float in MK. Also the sweet pretzel from the bakery at the Norway pavillion at Epcot. We had a few credits left over on our last day and loaded up at SSR's gift shop for the ride home. We had the Mickey rice crispy treats, Minnie cookies, Chip and Dale almonds. I am pretty sure I came across a list on the boards somewhere that someone had written with what was considered snacks at each location if you want to search for it.

Hi there!

There are so many snack options! I was shocked to find out just how many there were!! It was confusing when the dining plan first started but all snack options are now clearly marked. I've attached a link that I got last year on the boards when I was planning for our trip this past June. This is a good planning tool! Happy Planning!!!

Thanks DisneyGirl76...that was a great link and exactly what I was looking for to break down the snack options.

I have printed the article so I can create a custom list for our trip.

We were in WDW a few weeks ago and using our snack credits was pretty easy... with the little symbols next to what is considered a snack.

My Fav snack: Funnel Cake!!! :sohappy:

DH (WDWMazprty) loved his Dole Whip (the regular one... not the 'float')

My daughters really like the frozen lemonade... and it was big enough for the two of them to share... and share with us too :animwink:

My favorite snacks are pastries and frozen bananas! I especially like the fruit tarts from the Beach Club Marketplace (not sure if they are anywhere else?) But like others have said, ask if you can use a snack credit! In April when we went, it was VERY cold one morning, and we hadn't eaten yet, and the coffee cart in Frontierland gave us each a corn dog AND a hot chocolate or coffee and only charged 1 snack credit per person! Cha-ching! Double Snack!!! :ROFLOL:We also got free ice cream bars once. We found we could barely get our snacks used up by the end of the week, as people kept giving us free snacks  I suppose it's a good problem to have :D

Epcot!!!

We just got back on Saturday and I must say I am now depressed!!

Anyway, we saved all of our snacks for the last day of our trip. We went to Epcot and hit several stands at the International Food and Wine Festival. We could not believe the stands were snack options!! It was AWESOME!!!

Go for the New England lobster roll at the Hops and Barly stand!! WOWIE!!

We just got back last week and I had 3 pineapple floats and one dole whip float and surprisingly I liked the pineapple float better than the dole whip float. But both were pretty great. Well worth using a snack credit on.

Generally it's anything under $4 that's counted as "one serving". So those little packets of gummies that come in fours don't count. But fudge does! Almost everything in the display case at the Frontierland "Prairie Outpost" (in MK) counts.

But fudge is still the best snack option!

I think this may be new because in Dec, the Funnel Cake kiosk at the American Pavilion did not have them designated as being on the plan.

Has this changed or is it a prime example of needing to ask if something is accepted as a snack on the plan?

I think it's always safer to ask. At the Boardwalk Bakery, for example, it seems like half the stuff is labeled as a snack and half isn't even though they're similarly priced, so it can get confusing. It never hurts to ask in my opinion :)

It's so funny. My Mother goes to Disney with me & my kids, as my husband is a MAJOR Grumpy. Every time we go, we get the meal plan. Every time we go, she cannot understand the meal plan. She'll get a receipt and say "Oh, I have 28 snacks left!!" and I have to tell her, 'No! All TOGETHER, the FOUR of us have 28 snacks left', but she doesn't get it. Instead of getting a meal at breakfast, she shops the food court, and when she checks out, the choices are all wrong, and she ends up using 4 snack credits for fruit, a coffee, a muffin, etc. Now I have to race to get the kids 'good' snacks before Mom wipes us out! The kids love making pixie sticks at Goofy's Downtown, as well as smoothies in Africa Outpost, EPCOT.:dazzle:

We found the best deal was the ice cream shop on Main Street! The only thing that was NOT a snack was the sundae. But we all got a double scoop cone, which they then place in a dish since there is soooo much ice cream that they give you.
Obviously though some of the snack credits MUST be used on a Dole Whip, either straight ice cream or in the float form.

Hey KM! Have fun on your trip in March!

The best snack credit i used on my trip last week was at the Main Street Bakery, before Wishes. Ask them for the Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich. This thing is ridiculous, you'll probably have to split with someone. Two big chocolate chip cookies, and they stuff it was several scoops of delicious vanilla ice cream... wow!

This is one of the reasons I am loathe to use the DDP.

If I want fruit, a muffin and coffee for breakfast, thats what I want. I don't want to have to conform to some plan.

Yes, I know for some people it works great, but for me it seems to be a big hassle.

I am signed up for free dining next summer. I will see how that goes. My oldest child turned 10 last year, and dining was a real shocker this time, as she is now paying adult prices at buffets. She is also a diverse eater and orders some of the more expensive things off the adult menu. As long as she eats them (which she does) that is fine with me, but my pocket feels the pain.
