Thanks. It was tough but had to be done.
I've sat at a campfire and I've cooked on an open barbeque, neither of these set the asthma off. There is someting in tobacco smoke that can.mattb said:The same thing would happen if someone had a campfire outside as you walked by. Or if a Disney bus pulled away with a big puff of smoke as you walked by. No different. It's just the smoke in general.
LOL, if given the choice of educating guests and cleaning up vomit, you can bet I would be educating.Djali999 said:hey all,
from the perspective of a Cast Member who does a lot of dashing about outside, I really have to say that enforcement of the smoking policy is really conditional. if I'm headed to Space Mountain because somebody just threw up all over the softlines display, then no, I'm not gonna stop for some guy standing by Speedway puffing on a cigarette. On the other hand, if I'm collecting lost and found, then I'll usually stop.
There are small booklets distributed to CMs that give locations of smoking areas in about seven languages, and I usually carry a bunch with me. sadly their distribution is very erratic and they're often short on supply. I just give them out to folks, usually saying that "for future reference", here's where they're legally allowed to smoke so they don't run into much trouble.

Unfortunately, I don't believe Disney (and Disney security) back up the CM's sufficiently on this leaving them hung out to dry. If I were a young, 160 lb or whatever CM and had been told off by some chain smoking momma or some 240 lb guy...I wouldn't do it again. If Disney were serious about this, they would put appropriate support behind the initiative. :dazzle:[/QUOTE
ITA!!!! It is almost like the rule was put there to make everyone happy. Looks good on paper, but, the enforcement is something else.

Though you are right about circus school - I took evening lessons at one to lean the tighrope for when I had the lead in a big scale community theatre production of Barnum.
