smoking policy

In my opinion.. It just depends on who is working where. No, you can't smoke in any restaurant. Yes, you can smoke in various bars.

It just depends on the night and place. I've been to Pleasure Island on night when they made people put out their cigs... and nights they didn't.

Sorry I can't be more help to you!

I'm a social drinker/smoker and I'd NEVER think of doing that. That person shouldn't be classified as a smoker, they should be classified as trash with no class. Don't lump us into that person's assumed category! :brick:
Amen to that!!!

Are we talking putting out the cigs. outside or inside? I have been told that all bars in WDW that are owned by Disney have a no smoking policy.

I don't have any opinions about the "smoking is PC incorrect country". I could care less about that. What I do care about is that it's unhealthy for me and it's unhealthy for those whom I love, and I don't feel as though they should be subjected to it.

If someone doesn't know, that's fine. personally, I think it's rude for them to smoke in public (especially around children), but if they are told to go to a designated area and refuse - They should be tossed out by security. It's one of the rules at Disney. Should we let people who run around tripping guests for the fun of it off with warnings, just because of a possible reply they might have?
I don't have a problem with people being instructed to follow the rules, I LOVE rules. :)

If it makes you feel any better, to date, there has been no evidence of any harmful effects from second hand smoke in the open air. Inside, totally different story. Your health suffers more from following a Disney bus than it does from a passing whiff of smoke (outside) from someone's cigarette.

I do have an issue with smoking around children. It is dangerous, cigarette burns are nasty and I would not like to see any child burned.
I also wonder about the parents that do have their children in the designated smoking areas while they are smoking. Too dangerous.

I have never walked around with a cigarette in my hand, too dangerous. QUOTE]

Thank you so much Gail - for being considerate and for making that point.

To me it is a definite safety issue to not have people walking around in very crowded situations with lit cigarettes - which are generally at a child's face level when carried by an adult strolling along with their arms relaxed (you know what I am describing I hope). Of course, not to mention the other adults that could just as easily get burned on the arm or leg too.

I have stood in line at various Disney attractions with people that stink of tobacco smoke! It's in their clothes, hair and on their breath. I have seen others get ill from smelling that stench. How many people need to toss their lunch before you consider second hand smoke to be harmful?

I realize that smokers don't desire to be stinky, it's just that their sense of smell (and taste) is so diminished, they are not aware of the harm they cause. Smokers are not bad people, but they are addicted to a very dangerous substance which they shouldn't use in any public area.

I think tobacco suppositories would be helpful for guests at WDW.

I have stood beside women who smelled like they rolled on a dead animal, I am allergic to some perfumes, I literally cannot breathe. I have also stood beside people who could use a lot of Right Guard and that does make me sick. I also find the smell of beer on people's breath offensive and sometimes it upsets my stomach. I am sure that is the same reaction you have to cigarettes. Some people are more sensative to odors than others. when you are in a public place like Disney you cannot avoid offending some.

I don't mind if people smoke as long as they are discreet and don't effect my personal surroundings. When I came out from the Living Seas I saw a guy smoking by my stroller in the "stroller parking" area. This area is NOT a smoking area, I asked him nicely to move to the correct area and it wasn't pretty. He was a real smart#$@ and flicked his cigarette butt in the other direction.....hitting a lady standing there. She went nuts, security came, the guy gets escorted away after racial slurs at the lady and foul language at me and security and cast members.I believe he was booted and his wife/girlfriend was embarassed and appologizing to everyone making him look even more like a jerk. Now, I realize none of this probably would have happened if I didn't say anything to him but the bottom line is he should NOT have been smoking near me and my stuff stinking up everything. In this day and age smoking isn't a right.

I did not mean to imply that your hygiene was anything less than perfect. I am confident that it would be a pleasure to smell you. I imagine that you only smoke one or perhaps two cigarettes a day and take extra precautions to totally eviscerate any and all of the noxious odors associated with inhaled burned tobacco products that normally exude from the respiratory system, digestive system, circulatory system, lymph nodes, hair, and clothes of the average tobacco user.

Im not going to tell people not to smoke, but I'm all for Disney Security (or any CM) to have a Carbon Dixoide fire extinguisher handy to put out people's cigarettes who arent in the smoking secitions, and wish them a magical day.

My family and friends are highly allergic to cigarettes and While its a smokers right to poison themselves, its also my right not to have to put up with it, especially when smokers have their own private areas to do their habit in.

Most of the rule breakers are the young people
My experience was that most smoking rule breakers were probably over thirty. Though I have not made an accurate survey of the situation. It annoys me too much and I don't want to be annoyed on my holiday.

From personal experience of having my asthma set off when walking into a billowing cloud of smoke outdoors I have to disagree with that one.
