I would think not, They obviously are trying to get it away from public areas. I would think that smokers are going to inconvenienced a little and have to move to a location X amount of feet away from the entrances where no one else has a reason to go

It's your right, as you are correct it is not illegal and I'm definitely not one of those people telling you to quit. With that said, its also a companies right to say, you cant smoke here. As the reasonable person that you seem to be from your comments, you should respect that enough to say, "Hey it's their house and their rules." Think of it this way. It's not illegal for my dog to sit on my furniture at all. If I choose to let her sit on my furniture all day and smell it up and make it all hairy then she can in my house. But, when I travel to your house and you graciously let me come there with my dog, but have the rule of JUST KEEP HER OFF THE COUCH, I will do everything in my power to make sure she knows not to go on your furniture. Its out of respect. Your house, your rules. Disney's house is saying, I don't want you smoking here. Again you seem reasonable enough that you should be able to honor their rules.

I do intend on honoring their rules, however, that doesn’t mean I have to agree with them. What I’m trying to say is they could’ve come up with a compromised solution to appease all guests at the park. I personally didn’t like the smoking areas that were right on the walkways. I did feel like it was inconsiderate to non smokers. There’s plenty of areas that could be used for a smoking section that would be out of the way so as to not bother non smokers.

I am very allergic to cigarette smoke and am happy to see smoking banned in the parks. One of my favorite spots to make photos of the trains was the walk between Fantasy Land station and Space Mountain. Once they made a smoking area about midway along that walk I could no longer even go through the area without triggering a bad headache and sinus trouble for the rest of the day. Our trip the first week in March we inadvertently passed through a smoking area along one of the walks in Animal Kingdom that we didn't know existed. Passed through quickly enough that I didn't have major problems but I will be happy not to have that problem next trip.
I have a right to smoke free air that is just as valid as someone's right to smoke.

I actually think you're right. In Atlantic City here in NJ they stopped the smoking ban because they were afraid of a drop in attendance. It could and probably WILL occur in some way and for as much as we beat up Disney for money grabs think about what this is saying. Disney is saying that we understand there might be a dip in attendance but we are willing to take that risk because smoking in our park is something that we would like to end.

Smokers and Gamblers have something in common... it is a completely different story for a theme park. Casinos are literally trying to feed the addictive personalities to keep them spending and hooked...

You and I will never agree on this but I don't mind that at all. I love a good debate and smoking is an age old one. I just want to ask you this, how is Disney saying you're not welcome here? Are they not accepting your money, are they telling you that as a smoker you cannot enter their park until all non-smokers have entered? Watch the Green Book and you will understand what not being welcomed somewhere is really like. This is just a rule and a decision that Disney is making. Are you not welcomed in any bar, any shopping center, and store, any restaurant? They all say the same thing. If you want to or need to smoke, please go outside our business and away from our door. When you're finished, you're welcome to come back in. I don't see how that is "You're NOT welcomed here"

I believe you may have misread what I posted. DISNEY may welcome but the guests are another story. From someone who followed the rules and still had GUESTS complaining I smelled of smoke AFTER leaving the DSA and finished smoking.

Something tells me that this rule will only be enforceable for a few years until recreational pot becomes more and more widely accepted in more and more states. When people inevitably start complaining how they can’t get their “medicine” and Disney changes the policy for that very vocal group, how can you enforce between the socially acceptable smoke and the non-socially acceptable kind?

I would venture to guess this won't be the last change to tobacco policies in Disney. Meaning they will make it even less convenient in the future.

As for attendance and financial impact, Disney is constantly raising prices and creating new high cost experiences with limited attendance because the parks are constantly full. I would also venture to guess their target audience (families with children) have the lowest smokers population. Those that do smoke, but have kids and families that want to go to Disney will most likely comply vs. avoid Disney.

Well we appreciate as non-smokers that you are willing to honor their rules. There are lots of things that we don't agree with as far as rules but yet we have to honor them. I guess that you weren't the people that I was addressing. It was meant towards the ones that blatantly stated that they will do it where ever they want to within the parks now that there is the new rule.

Yes but my choice to remain healthy has no negative effect on you. I don't care if you choose to hurt yourself (Cut yourself, starve yourself, etc.) but if you choose to smoke, you're affecting both my help and my experience. Think of it this way, would you care if i was cutting myself as an addiction, absolutely not, but if everytime I cut myself I would run over to you and whip my dripping blood all over your face, clothes, and into your mouth for you to take into your body, I'm sure you'd have a problem with it. The bottom line is that your addiction is your addiction, keep it private and don't expect others without that addiction to suffer because of you.

22 NFL stadiums, 16 MLB stadiums are tobacco free for all events and those places don't allow re-entry. There will be growing pains, but this is going to happen and it will stay. For smokers it will be an inconvenience, and I am sure even outside the gates the smoking section will be tucked away from busy walkways.

I am not sure if this applies to all, but the 2 "smoke free" MLB parks I frequent have smoking areas away from the stands. Smoking is not allowed in the stands, or walkways, but the are smoking areas away from the public, but inside the gates.

I'm sorry I can't have compassion for someone that is smoking. I really think just obey the rules and smoke outside the park far enough away from the entrance. But I'm pretty black and white and I am also the type of person that has made a manager of a restaurant make smokers move away from the door outside. I think its simple that smokers should follow the laws/rules put in place and maybe smokers should be a little more compassionate and respectful towards non-smokers.

Not sure how it is in every park, but my understanding smoke free means the entire venue is devoid of smoking areas. Raymond James Stadium in Tampa removed all designated smoking areas in 8/2018.
