I've never been, but I would assume most people going to Vegas aren't too worried about being separated from their families for extended periods of time or dragging their families around so they can have a cigarette. (Slot machines and card games aren't exactly family activities.)

Vegas is a city looking for customers these days. Casino gambling is more readily available, so there has to be more than that to draw in guests these days. I for one, hate the gaming floors that by design you're forced to walk through to get to anything there... the smell of stale smoke is awful and permeates everything in the off hours... during peak hours I'll wear clothes that I'll throw away afterwards...its that bad.

Think for yourselfer
I'm one who finds smoking repulsive but this is excessive and seems counterproductive. I think Disney did a nice job accommodating those who chose to smoke before by putting the smoking areas out of major guest pathways (sorry your precious 'shortcuts' don't count). It'll be interesting to see how this is enforced. I'm just glad I'm not a supervisor in the parks anymore!
Same. In fact I have never in my 36 years on this planet, ever even tried a cig. I detest smoking. However, unlike some of the self righteous in this thread, I don't detest smokers themselves(no need to name names, we all know who I mean).

Anyway, this new rule will impact me in a negative way. Now, instead of the large majority of smokers going to designated areas, we will have the large majority sneaking them wherever they can. This new ban, is going to be a net negative for the park guest. That's just a fact.

After reading the majority of the comments, it’s pretty safe to say that “non-smokers” are some of the rudest people on here. Last time I checked, smoking is not illegal. I’m not committing a felony whenever I choose to have a cigarette
Don’t tell me just quit smoking” if I wanted to quit, I would, but I don’t choose to at thiis point in time.
I had no problems with designated smoking areas. Even being a smoker, I would never just light up anywhere, I do respect other people’s concerns who do not smoke. However those same people in turn, look down on smokers as if they are beneath them, second class citizens.
Disney’s main problem was where they put the smoking areas. Some of them were right on walking paths, where you would literally see people hold their breath while they walk by. They should have been smarter about it and put them farther back where it is not a disturbance to non smokers.
I have a platinum annual pass every year to Disney. I pay just as much as a non smoker does to enjoy the parks. Why should MY time at Disney be inconvenienced just to please a non smoker? Yes it IS my right to smoke, like I said, it’s not illegal. Give back the smoking areas, and put them in places that no one would normally go to unless they were a smoker.
Unfortunately a lot of people here are correct. All that’s going to happen is people are going to sneak around a corner somewhere and light up two or theee drags, and the park will also notice a ton more cigarette butts all over the place.
I do plan on writing an official letter, only having a smoking area at the entrance is not going to satisfy smokers. Another solution needs to be made
It's your right, as you are correct it is not illegal and I'm definitely not one of those people telling you to quit. With that said, its also a companies right to say, you cant smoke here. As the reasonable person that you seem to be from your comments, you should respect that enough to say, "Hey it's their house and their rules." Think of it this way. It's not illegal for my dog to sit on my furniture at all. If I choose to let her sit on my furniture all day and smell it up and make it all hairy then she can in my house. But, when I travel to your house and you graciously let me come there with my dog, but have the rule of JUST KEEP HER OFF THE COUCH, I will do everything in my power to make sure she knows not to go on your furniture. Its out of respect. Your house, your rules. Disney's house is saying, I don't want you smoking here. Again you seem reasonable enough that you should be able to honor their rules.

Forgot alcoholic beverages can't be brought in but can be bought in the parks. This is just the opposite for smoking 😁
Exactly why they should block smoking materials at the gates. Imagine the scene at security... "Yes, that water bottle's full of vodka, but I promise not to drink any while I'm in the park..."

I'm obviously not a fan of smokers thinking that I should change my life for their habits or allow them to poison me and my family (if you haven't been able to tell from my posts) but two things that really bothers me more than ANYTHING else from these posts are

1. How much an addiction can make relatively reasonable people so unreasonable. Think about the smokers defense. I need a fix and its not illegal so I should be able to do it. You as non-smokers should understand that you should avoid these areas and if you don't give me an area I'm going to just do it where ever I want to no matter what rules a company has put in place. Imagine if I said that my addiction was sex in public (much healthier than smoking as it hurts no one else, haha) and I said to Disney, listen when I'm in the park all day I'm going to need my fix. If you don't provide me an area away from people in your park to do it, I'm going to have to do it where ever I want. THESE ADDICTIONS ARE SO SAD ACTUALLY. Smokers lose all sense of being reasonable over their body's cravings.

2. It really bothers me when people brought up the idea of a indoor smoking room (which I still don't like but I guess could work if it was a room within a building that was far enough off the path and no one else would have reason to go anywhere near it, but really whats the difference between that and exiting the park for your fix.) and the smokers said that those rooms make them sick. The smokers don't like the rooms where they have to sit in the smell and the smoke because its disgusting when its past their normal point of tolerance but they then fail to see how just walking past someone that is smoking outside would bother others that don't smoke at all. It's all about tolerance, If you don't smoke, even the least amount of smoke and smell can bother you.

They are also wrong for doing this. They took a problem and just made it worse.
Well, maybe the guy who thought up the MDE/MagicBand/FP+ thing was rehired to "improve" the quality of guest experiences in the parks, and this is the first thing he thought of...

Try France. 32% of the French self identify as regular smokers...
15% in the UK (along with the US by the way)
24% in Spain

Not sure how wise it is to literally tell 15-20% of your customer base "you're not welcome here."

It's not "You're not welcome here". It's PLEASE RESPECT OUR RULES WHILE YOU'RE VISITING IN OUR PARK. Besides things are tolerated very differently in other countries. Think about nudity. Lots of people in the United States see nudity as taboo still while in many other countries its just normal. Topless and nude beaches are a thing that we don't usually see normally here and many people would not bring their families to one, but in France its completely common. Its not seen as strange to swim naked with other families. Putting it nicely, Disney World is in the USA and therefore other visitors from other countries have to understand and respect the customs of a park in the USA. Just as they respect not sunbathing nude or topless at the pools within the resort.

I just gave you an example that it would. Maybe not in large numbers. But look at what happened with the smoking ban in bars and restaurants. Attendance dropped.
I actually think you're right. In Atlantic City here in NJ they stopped the smoking ban because they were afraid of a drop in attendance. It could and probably WILL occur in some way and for as much as we beat up Disney for money grabs think about what this is saying. Disney is saying that we understand there might be a dip in attendance but we are willing to take that risk because smoking in our park is something that we would like to end.

A lot of them are cleaning the air up. I know the Bellagio and the Venetian both now move smokers to the back and now all concert halls and meeting rooms are non smoking.

I really can't believe smokers are very surprised by this move. Whether pc or a money move, the country is moving toward a smoke free environment.

I would believe the welcome part from Disney, from the guests who choose not to smoke and are hateful towards those that do is another story though.

So let me say I don't hate anyone but I absolutely hate what smoking does to you health, you simply cannot ignore the effects. I do not think anyone should attack smokers and most of the time if someone is smoking in my space, I simply move. I think non smokers simply are not willing to put they're health at risk.

I really don't accost perfect strangers in the park, again I may get annoyed but I simply move.

22 NFL stadiums, 16 MLB stadiums are tobacco free for all events and those places don't allow re-entry. There will be growing pains, but this is going to happen and it will stay. For smokers it will be an inconvenience, and I am sure even outside the gates the smoking section will be tucked away from busy walkways.

You and I will never agree on this but I don't mind that at all. I love a good debate and smoking is an age old one. I just want to ask you this, how is Disney saying you're not welcome here? Are they not accepting your money, are they telling you that as a smoker you cannot enter their park until all non-smokers have entered? Watch the Green Book and you will understand what not being welcomed somewhere is really like. This is just a rule and a decision that Disney is making. Are you not welcomed in any bar, any shopping center, and store, any restaurant? They all say the same thing. If you want to or need to smoke, please go outside our business and away from our door. When you're finished, you're welcome to come back in. I don't see how that is "You're NOT welcomed here"
