Wait...isn't crack a smoked drug? Also, there are more and more illegal drugs becoming popular that affect the user so much that people are being attacked by drug users. So smoking is far from the only addiction that harms people other than the user.

Forgot alcohol...something Disney actively serves in their parks. Drunken drivers and all.
They ban smoking, which doesn't bother others. Meanwhile Disney sells cocaine and speed every fifty feet to keep their guests aggressive, loud and obnoxious.

Wait, not cocaine, that other hard drug, alcohol. I always mix them up.

Upon further review.....

EPCOT may not be too bad - one can sneak out IG - or if meandering around FW it won't be too far of walk to dip outside.

MK - if they have a smoking area just outside the gate. May be do-able. It's a long walk as it is from the Frontierland area to the Tomorowland one. So as long as I'm not forced over to the Contemporary or worse, TTC. Might work

DHS - Haven't quite figured that out yet. But there may be a way (again - as long as it's just outside the gate)

AK - Impossible.

I'm willing to give it a shot. But I suspect I will be like many, we'll try - but if everybody is huddled in corners trying to sneak a drag - All bets are off.

They won't remove the person. More likely they will ask the person to put out the cigarette. That is what they do now when they see people smoking in unauthorized areas in WDW.
Well, according to what I read in the Orlando Sentinel, this new policy will be worthless: “Disney doesn’t plan to punish visitors if they are caught breaking the rules.”

Why even bother if they aren’t going to have any consequences?

I sympathize with you on this, as I get a huge migraine from perfumes and colognes, but these items are an everyday part of life for many people, and what am I to do? Ask them to wash it off? Change clothes? Berate them?
That's inhumane.
Like you, I bring a solution with me. I have headache pills wherever I go. It'll take an hour, but at least I'll be okay later on. The person wearing the scent doesn't know it's affected someone else.
In my case, perfumes and colognes are actually worse for my asthma than even cigarette smoke. That's what caused both 911 calls in my case. Someone had sprayed cologne and my lungs just shut down. The first time, I was at my locker (this was middle school) and I was so tight that they had to bring me a wheelchair just to get me to the nurse. I then spent three days in the hospital, nearly ending up in ICU. I visited my old high school recently, and my legacy is that there is a no perfume sign up. I actually have a no perfume sign at work that I put up and ask people around me not to wear perfume.

As bad as migraines are (and believe me, I know, I get them too), in the end, a migraine can't be life threatening. Asthma can be.

Personally, I would never berate anyone, including smokers. It's not in my nature, especially if someone is trying to be courteous. Except for certain relatives who, even though they know I have asthma, will sit right next to me and light up anyway. My aunt, who hosts all family get together and is a smoker herself, banned them at family functions due to too many asthmatics in the family.

I'm sure that eventually they will have to ask you to leave, or direct you to the front of the park where you are allowed to smoke.

Not necessarily. The unknown here is the enforcement method. If they are tracking...sure I agree. But if not, it won't be the same CM giving me the warning and they'll be unaware of any previous interactions I've had.

Like I said, I'll try. But if I see they are not enforcing it, or the CM's are turning a blind eye..........I'll re evaluate.

Such as the busses? From resorts? Where presumably they should have known about the ban? They also could throw them out. Yes, I know, that will anger people. But I don’t see how Disney plans to enforce this any other way than by refusing people with cigarettes at bag check.

This ^^^^^ is an insane statement. Banning them from the parks would be a lost cause. Five cigarettes and a pack of matches wrapped in a tissue in a purse, bag, or person's pocket? This would not be seen in bag screening, or a metal detector. Is security going to have a special "strip search" area to check the people that the nicotine sniffing dogs hit on? :) :) :)

They specifically mentioned that there are smoking areas at the resorts. Also, they're building a smoking area near the entrance of each park...to me that indicates that they won't be asking people to dispose of them.

People will obviously leave all cigarettes but one in their car or hotel room, and throw their lighter in the trash before the enter the parks. :)

I didn't mean it as a strip search or pat everyone down thing obviously. I meant it as a 'if security notices cigarettes, let them know'

In the new area outside the MK ("the hackiest place on earth!"), smokers will get to meet the 8th Dwarf (Puffy) who will not only pose for pictures, but will have an ashtray built into the top of his hat.

Perhaps before going full gestapo, they might consider that smokers might be a litmus test on the way to controlling other behaviors, and perhaps feel they would not like to be treated as guilty until proven innocent when something they enjoy gets banned.

Obviously so.

I don’t see a problem with smoking areas tucked away off of main paths. It’s an easy solution and makes everyone happy.

Sadly, there is an absolute bat-crap crazy vocal group of folks who flip out over the mere thought of someone smoking within a mile of their presence.

So they complain and complain and complain.

The substitutes do not work for some. And I’ve talked with anti-vaper folks who claim they don’t want the chemicals in their bodies (crazy I know) so what should society do with these folks. Perhaps we should cast them to an island far away from anyone, that way they do not have even the possibility of causing our nostrils to even begin to smell the pungent odor of smoke., except up in Spaceship Earth of course.
Can they not chew nicotine gum for a few hours?

The best solution (but costly to Disney) would be enclosed smoking rooms that filter the air getting sucked out.

If security saw a selfie stick in a bag while at bag check, they would inform them that selfie sticks are not permitted in the park. I don't see why security wouldn't do the same with cigarettes. Yes, I know THE ACT OF SMOKING is what is banned and NOT cigarettes (an object); however, there's no other purpose for cigarettes than to commit the act that is being prohibited.

This is great. Smoking is a choice not a right but it is my right now to inhale something that’s proven to cause cancer.
