Does anyone know the exact types of improvements being done? I was under the impression they were just upgrading lighting and sound and switching the entrance with the exit. But this looks a bit more extensive.

From Mouse Planet regarding what they're doing in the rehab:

“it's a small world” – closed for rehab through March 18, 2005. The work is expected to be for upgrades to the lighting, audio, and electrical systems, rehabs to sets and Audio-Animatronic figures, asbestos abatement, roof repair, regular water maintenance (draining and refilling), replacement of boats, and the rumored swapping of the entry and exit queues for better traffic flow and more stroller parking. The audio upgrade will include a return to a cleaned-up copy of the stereo soundtrack heard at the 1964 World's Fair, which has been very well received since it returned to Disneyland a couple of years ago.

I think IASW should always be a boatride. Just something about it that would be missing otherwise - but interesting thought, nonetheless. :)

ACE - how did you find those?! Those were in the secret UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT folders!

Great Pics! Thank you!

This ride was closed  when we were there. I had no idea this was an extensive rehab. I can't wait to see the new ride next year!

Instead of only having 1 chucky doll, why not replace every doll with Chucky and give him the same technology used for Lucky?

I don't think that the dirt/sand is down to protect the floor, there are probably other things they could use to do that such as peices of ply-wood that would be much cleaner and easier than dumping dirt all over. But, who knows?

None of the WDW-related demolition (or rehab) pics posted thus far have come close the the "erie-ness" or mass size of the Kongfrontation demolition at Universal Studios. I'm surprised there wasn't more posted on that demolition (in the Universal section, of course). Even the foundation in Kong was dug up and replaced for Mummy.

Are any pics of that online? Kong was (IS!) my favorite non-Disney ride, and I am just so greatful the summer before they tore it down I got to ride it over 150 times. :) Still miss it, though, and would love (need?? :) ) to see the pictures of the funeral...
