SM photo update (21 Oct) - including STARPORT signage

Next Big Thing

I can't wait to see the final product of all this. It is starting to look better and better. The one thing I am most looking forward to is what the circular thing is (presumably a fountain) and how it and the surrounding area will look in a month when this refurb is supposed to be done. Also can't wait to see how they incorporated the interactive queue. Can't wait until it opens.

Is that "Starport" sign located on the same light fixture where there used to be the interior "Space Mountain" signs? (After you passed the block letter sign outside the building, there was a second illuminated sign inside, which I believe used to have a FedEx logo until they pulled sponsorship).

Also, did that fixture ever have a sign for the RCA House of Future Living? Considering that was billed as a mini-attraction (even encouraging non-coaster riders to wait in Space Mountain's queue to see it), I imagine there was some sort of sign from the Peoplemover view.

If the postshow is truly getting a name, we can only hope it will be something significant. Otherwise, why point it out?

Also--- to the poster who asked about the arcade games inside--- yes, I saw them too a few weeks ago, all pushed to one corner of the room. Does anyone really pay money to play those games anymore? (And does DL still have the old Starcade?)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Give me new launch and re-entry tunnels, keep the star tunnel music and windows, and spruce up the whole lift area, and I won't call it a failure. I promise.

But if they change the post-show and completey remove the arcade and actually add SM merch and on-ride photos (where did that thread go, by the way???) that will be a big bonus.

While it's good to know they'll be attempting some kind of treatment, "Starport Station 75" should be "Space Station 75" if you ask me, to keep up with Disneyland's theme.

You forgot outer lighting. :D

Why? Difference is good. I'm happy that we have something different.

Funny thing I just realised, the new green signage and color scheme used on and in the mountain now fits in with the "New Tomorrowland" theme.

VERY good point. Have you seen the exterior lighting package they've got going at DL right now during Ghost Galaxy?!?!?!?!?!?!

That right there is a PERFECT example of how the other parks get it right, and WDW does NOT.

How so? I would think it goes away.

New Tomorrowland seems to be extremely colorful lately, and the new signage reflects some of that. Plus, the original scheme had a 70's feel to it. (not bad, but somewhat out of place)

I at least hope this refurb brings elements of New Tomorrowland into it.
(Maybe some better SMTV in the post-show )

I KNOW.:dazzle:

It's amazing. Why Disneyland can get that while we don't is WAY beyond me.

Honestly, I would think the exact opposite. SM's colors are finally cohesive and matching....They used to be TL94-ish in the sense that nothing matched. Now? It's kinda retro! :D

Starport... sounds like a new post-show to me...

I would be happy if they do remove the arcade & retheme the building in an entirely different way to exit.

:sohappy::D
