Did you find all of the pieces of the bit? How long did it bleed? I would clean the area thoroughly with hydrogen peroxide or betadine...something like that. Keep an eye on it...at the first sign of swelling or redness, you might have to get it looked at. I can't really evaluate it without seeing it (in person...please don't scan your thumb!) When in doubt, see a doctor!
BTW, drilling through finger and toenails is a standard treatment for hematomas under the nail.....my husband would get them under his big toenail from playing squash, and either he or I would sterilize a drill bit , put a little novacaine in, and drill into it! They hurt so much that the drilling was actually a relief.
