Skull Island: Reign of Kong from construction to opening

An opening that can occur at any time and cease at any time. It is essentially a technical rehearsal if you think of it in theatrical showmanship terms. It is to make sure all aspects of operations are satisfactory and working under real conditions. Many stores and businesses use the term soft openings, although in this industry they are unannounced and due to the nature of attractions harder to catch. Eventually though, you can expect it to remain open for longer and longer unless something major comes up as an issue. Then with confidence there you get the official grand opening date for the attraction that deems it open for daily operation with park scheduled hours.

And, I should have checked the next page. The Universal forums on here are full of some of the most help on the entire website IMHO.

Does anyone know what this ride is? I hope it's not just a glorified King Kong 3D tram tunnel like at USH. Is it really an Indiana Jones dark ride?

More than a glorified 3D tram tunnel, unless you think using that as ONE of the main elements makes it glorified. There are many that are looking to not be pleased. It is more akin to the classic dark rides of Universal Studios Florida.

Would this be an appropriate time to start up a spoiler thread? I personally don't want to be spoiled, so I think that would be nice. Especially with softs right around the corner.

I know on OU they're waiting until softs start, but things are going to be talked about before then, so I'd rather just start it now. Thoughts?

I'll start it myself after I go in 3 weeks after I ride it if rumors of an early May soft opening are true. Or someone else can start it up.

Anyone have any suggestions on what twitter accounts to follow to hear about any Skull Island soft openings? I'll be there in two weeks, so if there is even the slightest chance of it opening, I want to be the first to know.

I can't wait for this ride. But did anyone notice the AAs don't move their arms and steering wheel when they make the turns :( I know it's still testing, but if they don't turn the wheel, that's something people will notice who sit in the front. Here's hoping that changes.

(As of now) They look more like mannequins stuffed in a driver's seat than actual AAs. Remember... the A in AA stands for 'Audio'. If the riders aren't directly looking at these things, there's little reason to put $$$ into making them talk and all that operational. IMO, they're in the seats because otherwise it would be strange to have a vehicle like that with no physical driver.
