*strolls in, trying to pretend that it hasn't been months since my last post...*

In MK, we love the Crystal Palace, although as it's been mentioned, it's buffet style. The great part about that, of course, is that you get tons of food and you're energized and ready to go for a few hours of serious theme-parking without getting hungry! We barely eat a lunch/afternoon meal when we eat breakfast at CP cos you just get so much food!

I've eaten at the Brown Derby (for my birthday about 7 years ago,) which was to my recollection pretty good, but pricey. The only other sit-down we've tried at MGM was Sci-Fi Dine-In, which was pretty goodbut extremely busy and therefore the food seemed kind of sub-par (I think they were just swamped with people.)

I guess the main point of this post is Crystal Palace = Good. :)

The three "real restaurants" in MK, Liberty Tree, Cinderella's Table and Tony's are all nice. I like Liberty Tree a lot, but only go there for lunch now as we're not big fans of character meals. Cinderella's is nice and relatively quiet for lunch and dinner with great ambiance. Tony's is always good.

As others have said, MGM has a lot to offer. SciFi is a fun experience, we usually do it for lunch. 50's Prime Time also has to be experienced at least once. Food is family fare and moderately priced. We like the Brown Derby, but it is the park's premier restaurant, and priced accordingly. Use of any of the restaurants with the Fantasmic package is a good idea IMHO. Mama Melrose is OK, but doesn't have the uniqueness of the others mentioned.

I love Tony's! The best in MK! Yummy Italian food - in the Lady and the Tramp Setting... so great!

As for MGM - I love the Brown Derby for food; Sci-Fi Cafe for Milkshakes; and the 50's prime time for Dessert, their S'more is soo yummy - and is enough to feed a family for dessert! Think lot's of grahmcrackers, with tons of marshmellows - drizzled with chocolate sauce... to die for! :D

You left out The Plaza!! It is a full service restaurant with a full menu of sandwiches, salads and desserts!! It also has a great view of Main Street and The Castle. We have found it to be a wonderful refuge from the hustle and bustle of the day.

It's next to the ice cream parlor going towards Plaza Pavilion and the bathrooms. I've never eaten there, but my family has. They very much enjoyed it.

No matter what you hear about it......the Sci Fi Dine In SUCKS ...... except for the milkshake!!!!!!! The best place, in my opinion, to eat is at the 50's Primetime Cafe!!!!!!!! I have had about half of the things on the menu and everything is awesome!!!!

As for MK, the only "sit down" restraunt I have been to is Cindy's Royal Table. WE ate there once for dinner but bring your best credit card because it is pretty expensive!!!! However, the food lives up to every bit of the hype and is well worth the splurge!!!!!! Ohhhh by the way..... there is to alcohol served in the castle or the entire MK for that matter, so make sure you are prepared for it!!!!

Food

I would say in MK:

It depends on what you are looking for....do you want fast or do you want atmosphere?

I loved Tony's Town Square Restaurant...the spaghetti and meatballs were good...the salad was really good! Ask to be seated outside, its great to see people walk around while you eat. I enjoy people watching.

Liberty Tree tavern is top notch..as is Cinderella's Royal Table...Columbia Harbor House is good, but I ran into a rude CM...but oh well...

Of course Casey's is good for a hotdog...but I think you are looking more for a sitdown place...

As for MGM...

I have heard good things about Prime Time, Sci-Fi and Mama Melrose's...I have personally been to Brown Derby...though the food was good...it just wasn't my style...I like regular food....I found Brown Derby to be a little too pseudo-ritzy...wanna be gourmet...not to say it wasn't a very enjoyable experience...I just would have preferred a Mama Melrose's.

Hope it helps.

My favorite restaurant in either park would have to be the Prime Time Cafe. The atmosphere is top-notch and the food is just right. Remember to get a milkshake there! BEST EVER!!!

MK-

Chrystal Palace- we always say that we are going to try another restaurant, but we like The Crystal Palace so much that we never make it to another one.

MGM-

Sci-Fi- we liked the concept, but once we got there, we just did not care for it.

50's Prime Time- we always cheat and eat our dessert around 11am- we just have to go and get punished by "mom".

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano- you get Fantasmic! Priority Seating Dinner Package and the best pasta dish that I've ever eaten- Linguini Fra Diavolo.

my family (party of 9) ate at tony's early this month in the mk and were very happy with our service(want to see her name was marguerite) and our food. the food was brought out quickly and quite tasty.

we had made a ps and only had to wait about 20 minutes to get our table.

I've been lucky enough to eat in some of the best restaurants at WDW.

MK, the Crystal Palace is good, but The Liberty Tree is the best I've been to. Tony's Town Square I wouldn't recommend at all. Poor service, long waits. Five adults cramped onto a standard size table not good.

MGM, Sci fi Diner, great fun anytime. Brown Derby, beautiful food, well served but expensive, 50's Prime Time, good fun....... once. Mama Melrose, terrible service, absolutely terrible, left us until we complained at every course. Tables all round came and were served and finished around us. Treated rudely by the hostess, don't know if it's because we're Brit's or what. The only time I've EVER had to put my irate shareholder hat on and properly complain. The hostess was repremanded and we were given free fastpasses as compensation. Avoid at all costs. ABC Commissary does a great breakfast though.
