Dateline Disneyland's update confirms they are still on track for a May 29 opening.

A wide shot with a look at the new boxes.. these will probably be used for sound and/or light effects.

My goodness! That has to be the fanciest looking swing ride on the planet!

They really are spending a fortune on this remodel, aren't they?Makes you realize how cheaply done the Orange Stinger was in comparison. It's a very good sign for what the Paradise Garden Grill and Goofy's Sky School next door will look like when they start on those in the fall.

^ Quite a transformation, isn't it? Hard to believe that same space was occupied by a giant Orange. Everything about the new overlay is an improvement - not to mention the new boardwalk, as well as the redesigned courtyard with new planters and trees. Also love the color scheme they used, w/ green accents.. reminds me of the pastel colors they used for the TSMM building. Really pretty.

Can't wait to see what they do with the new Paradise Garden area and the Mulholland Madness re-theme.

The new structure was lit up for the first time on Friday. The lighting for the canopy/Mickey hasn't been turned on yet

Al Lutz is reporting that the official grand opening for SSS will be delayed until June 11:

Editor's Note 5/24: The construction walls are planned to come down around the Silly Symphony Swings early this morning. While the grand opening has been pushed back until June 11 (with soft openings beforehand), now you'll be able to see the money they poured into getting the details right on this little ride. It's light years beyond the cheap Orange Stinger. If you're impressed with this extreme makeover, you're going to be blown away with the details they are pouring in to Little Mermaid and Buena Vista St! - Al Lutz

Gosh, but that's a very upbeat Editors Note from Al Lutz! :)

I walked around the construction walls of SSS on Sunday afternoon, and it really is very swanky looking. I can't wait to see it with the walls down, apparently later on Monday!

What an amazing ride! Quite an upgrade from Orange Zimmer (is that what it was called? Or was it Zinger?), but I'm a sucker for Silly Symphonies.

And if that delay is correct, what a day June 11th will be! WoC and SSS!

HA! They themed the ride operators console to look like a conductor's stand! Someone is obviously thinking here, as that is very clever. Well done WDI!

I've walked around this new facility in person, and it looks even better than in pictures. This new ride is a Gazillion times better looking than the Orange Stinger ever was. There are details and money poured all over the thing.

And yes, this simple swing ride bodes very well for all of the other things they are also working on now in DCA.

SSS finally opened to guests this morning! These are initial soft-openings, the official "grand opening" of the ride is still set for June 11.

Here's an early audio preview of the ride from TheDLGazette - http://tmic.fm/rhu8pe7v1ef

the man you hear at the end is Gustav Tinkerschmidt, owner of Paradise Pier and a character that was introduced when the new Games of the Boardwalk were opened. He also hosts Mickey's Fun Wheel and has his own window above the re-themed Games :)

Had a chance to ride this today. They did a fantastic job with the re-theme; such a huge change from the Orange that used to sit here before. I honestly didn't mind the Orange as much as other people did but I still greatly prefer the new Silly Symphony/boardwalk theme. The new observation deck is a nice touch and a great spot to relax in.

The ride felt so brand-new -- it still smelled like fresh paint and some of it hadn't even dried yet!

and a video -

Two sections from the “William Tell Overture” are used for the attraction and the music alternates between each cycle. One cycle will feature “Storm” and the other will feature “Finale”.

Like I said earlier in the week, I'm very impressed by this. I realize it's still just an off the shelf swing ride, but I feel that Disney made a good decision by keeping it around because the swing ride is a quintessential boardwalk ride,

I'm impressed as well. They kept the ride and vastly improved the theme and appearance of the entire area. I know they spent a ton in this corner of the resort and that each little updated area contributes to the overall feeling of a Disney experience. I continue to be excited and encouraged by the changes at DCA.

It's astonishing to me how everyone is going so excited over a carnival swing ride! It just goes to prove that for some people, if you slap the Disney name on it, they'll refer to it as "amazing" no matter what it is. And yet, in another thread, people are being blase about the new Harry Potter attraction. :hammer:
