Sick at the World

In February I ended up with food poisoning from Sci Fi dine in. All night I kept talking about how good the food was. Then half way through the night of sleeping it started. My poor daughter thought I was nuts. We had breakfast reservation at CRT that morning and OHana for dinner. Needless to say I ate and continued on my day but didn't enjoy it as much as if I wasn't sick. It was just another Disney first for me so I thought it was funny and chalked it up to experience ..lol. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi. I live in North Florida. Got a bad stomach ache, then sick on Easter. Dr.s office said a stomach virus is going around. Prescribed clear fluids, ices and Popsicles are good. Pedialite is very good at restoring electrolytes. Anyway, my doctor prescribed me Bentyl for the cramping in the ole tummy. Hang in there. Watch some good movies. Have Sweet Disney dreams.

You are in parks surrounded by thousands of people touching every little thing... It's actually surprising people don't get sick more often there considering everyone is in the equivalent of germ soup. (And let's face it...we all love them but kids are buckets of slime ;)) Disney does a generally good job cleaning but at the end of the day, it's still thousands upon thousands of everyone's germs being spread everywhere.

Sorry you are sick though, especially if it is norovirus. That thing is a beast.

Yes, I agree. There is just so much hand sanitizer can do. Little kids are great, except their little hands carry a lot of creepy crawlies. Love your moon photo.

The thing that drives me crazy is I've been taking Airborne for days so I wouldn't get sick!

My husband is refusing to go to the parks without me! Even worse, we had to cancel the 'Ohana dinner reservation he was looking forward too so much because he didn't want to go alone. He's at DTD getting me some soup right now and then I guess we're just staying in and watching movies.

All these stories of sickness in the world is making me nervous! I think I will buy vitamin C and have us all start taking it to help boost our immune system before we go! One my son's best friends was there this past week and he got sick too!
I hope you feel better soon!!!

No offense, but Airborne doesn't do anything for you. It has never been tested by the FDA and no studies have been done on it that are considered scientifically valid. There is potentially even so much vitamin C in it that it could cause people to be more susceptible to kidney stones. There was also a federal complaint/lawsuits made against the original owners/company accusing them that they made false claims regarding its efficacy against colds... short answer is that it simply doesn't do what they claimed.

It contains good vitamins that we need, yes, but it doesn't contain anything really that couldn't be gotten from a multivitamin or a well balanced diet. And it isn't going to prevent you from getting sick. You are better off just making sure you wash your hands and that whatever warm food you order is well cooked.

So I'm currently sitting at Buena Vista Urgent Care. I'm pretty sure Raglan Road poisoned me last night. Since I woke up I've been unable to make it 10 feet without sweating through my clothes and feeling the need to vomit (but not doing it). Anyway, I'm here now begging for drugs. Anyone else been sick at Disney? I never realized this could happen!

Firstly all the best and I hope you get better very soon.

I got ill towards the end of our 3 week visit a few years back. We come over from the UK and two days before our return flight wasn't a fun time to be bed ridden with a fever and a bad throat. Fortunately my dad is friends with a couple who are doctors who live near our family vacation home. One of them kindly popped round to visit and wrote out a presecription for me and Mrs M picked up the antibiotics for me. The doctor was happy to write a letter for me for the insurance company justifying me taking a later flight home as she was a little concerned about me travelling, however I was just about well enough to travel on the planned flight home in the end. Being ill is never nice but it really sucks when you're on holiday.

Like I originally said though, do get well soon :)

Nope, no IV. :( He gave me a prescription for nausea pills and told me to drink Gatorade and avoid solid foods til tomorrow. He said its viral because he hasn't had anyone else complaining of food poisoning.

Food poisoning doesn't have to happen to people in bulk. If just one thing was left out too long or was undercooked, food poisoning can happen to individuals.

Easiest example is for people who order burgers or steaks and still want them "as close to moo-ing as possible". The FDA tells you to have the meat to certain temps before consumption, but other than that, how you order it is up to you, and you pay the price for it depending on how the chef sees "as close to moo-ing" that day. If they are busy and in a hurry, it'll be pinker than normal, if it's slower, then you'll see it darker... Not making excuses, but I've worked in enough kitchens to see it.

Oh NO. I'm praying your body will recover quickly so you can get on with enjoying your time as planned. There can't be anything worse than having to cancel plans at Disney because every little thing has been looked forward to for so long. Hope you can keep the soup down and after a good nights rest you wake up in the morning feeling better.

Thank you. :) He brought me chicken soup and Olivia's grits. I've had a small bit of both and I've had a bottle of Gatorade and a half bottle of vitamin water. Waiting to see how I feel before I eat more!
