Shuttle Launch at 7:55 PM

I know it's VERY short notice but is/was anyone there for the launch tonight?

Pics/Vids if you got 'em?:wave::wave:

That has to be one of the most surreal things. Around noon late Oct 2007 I was standing with my family at the fountain between Innoventions when suddenly things got quiet. The music stopped. The fountain stopped. People were looking up. I finally looked up, oh yeah, shuttle launch today! Saw it streak across the sky (mostly just a bright spark followed by the smoke trail), then a few seconds later you could hear the faint rumble. A few more moment then the music started, fountain started, and things just picked up where they left off.

Was the weirdest thing... :)

VERY cool...I would love to see that!

Imagine it at night!...Hope someone covers it.

Wow, you really could see it from the Orlando area. That was awesome. I forgot about it then heard the roar...ran outside...saw the sky light up...and saw the flames from the rockets.

I live about 10 miles from WDW and all I could see was the wonderful rain we had... I usually get a good view of the launch, but alas not today. I don't know if WDW was any different but there were some clouds and rain all over the area.

Saw it from the front yard. There are few things cooler than a shuttle launch, especially a night one.

With the nearly cloudless skies we were able to see it clearly all the way up through the solid rocket separation and beyond. I wish I had pulled the camera out since the launch pattern relative to home had it go right by a nearly full moon; would have made a great shot. Never be able to get that again because if things stay with the current plan, this was the last night launch of the shuttle program.

Too much cloud cover to see it here tonight. I've managed to see a few in the past; mostly by just being in the right place at the right time, and realizing what I was seeing.

Went out to the pier at lake apopka tonight with the family.. We saw the shuttle go up... It moves a LOT faster than I thought it would... first time seeing it in person..

I think we're going to go to Titusville for the next launch....

I have a few shots I'll post soon..

Just got back from the cape, night launches are the best. It was pretty clear tonight over on the east side, even got to see when the boosters were detached that's how clear it was.

Weird.

Normally I can see launches from my home about 160 miles south of the cape, especially at night.

But didn't see a thing tonight at all.

I remember a night launch in 12/06 that I watched from the top of Dolphin Stadium and that was very cool.

But since this is a Disney board my kewlest overall launch with a Disney twist was John Glenn's return to space on Discovery that I watched from Tomorrowland. To see the shuttle lift off over SpMtn was just an amazing sight ... one I won't soon forget.

Too bad so many people in this country are so blase over something so amazing. Maybe when/if Ares begins the long journey back to the moon (and then on to Mars) people will wake up and realize we are an exploring species who should be out amongst the stars seeking answers to questions that haven't even been posed yet.

Of course, I might just be a bit psyched up from seeing the amazing trailer to JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie a few hours ago!
