they should replace it with Zumanity
I do know that its fact.
Plus, Cirque nailed La nouba right on the head the first time, writing the show and all. La Nouba looks outdated a BIT effects-wise if you have seen any of Cirque's newer shows.
1: If you know declining attendance is a fact, what are the numbers? How drastic is the decline? Have they gone from sell-out to 90% crowds? 85? 60?
2: Has the decline in attendance been so severe that it's economically more viable to start doling out the money to start a whole new production? Bear in mind, once the original investment is paid off, there can be a whooooole lot of profit in a show like La Nouba, enough that even a decline in attendance is still more profitable for the people behind Cirque than the sell-out crowds in its infancy, when they were still paying back startup costs. Heck, Cirque's bean counters may have factored in a decline in attendance in their long-term plans. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if Cirque's ancillary income (merch like sweat shirts & baseball caps and programs and CDs) make the producers of long-running Bway shows like Phantom or Chicago green with envy. Cirque might be making less money, but that doesn't mean it's LOSING money, or in any danger of losing money any time soon.
Just out of curiosity, is it possible that the extended discount to Cast Members in 2006 has more to do with the show getting out of the red and into the black, and less to do with the show's attendance declining? I know everyone wants to get paid, but as the show makes money, and keep making money, they might be willing to discount a few more tickets because it's making its own money and isn't relying on Disney or Cirque's coiffers or outside funds. Because no matter how sweet the employee discount may be, there can only be so many times CMs would see the show. I don't know how much of a factor reduced sales to them could be.
