Shortest trip to DW?

For those not living in FL, or better yet far enough away that you'd take a plane, what's the shortest trip you've taken or would take? Would you go for just a weekend? Sometimes I miss it so bad I consider it, but it would just go by so fast... and the weekends are always so busy, I'm afraid I'd spend my entire weekend in lines. I'm just an addict, that's all.

For me personally, I would have to get at least 4 days to make it worth while. If I could get an early enough flight in on Friday morning, and a late enough flight out on Monday night, that might be ok, but more likely I'd want to fly in on Thursday or fly out on Tuesday. That way I'd have enough time to hit the four parks, and see most of the attractions and shows I would want.

But I completely understand the wanting a "fix" part. Our last trip was September 2008... and I don't think we're going to get back until sometime next year. And I've looked at doing a shorter long-weekend trip a few times now, but just haven't been able to work out good flight times/prices.

Flying from boston our family trips are as follows;

1st trip 5 nights/6 days
all other trips 6 nights 7 days

However I do travel to Orlando for business a few times a year and I usually have enough notice to schedule an ADR or two. When I go I fly on Sunday and return Friday evening. When I arrive on Sunday I drop my stuff off at my hotel and and head over to the world, I also have evenings free so I usually go over at night as well.

I see you stayed at WL twice. Isn't it amazing? We're staying at the Beach Club in Feb, but our first 2 trips in Feb of '09 and Feb of '10 were at WL. We loved it there so much, it felt like home. It will be weird to stay somewhere else!

Yes I love WL; DW and DS wanted to try different resorts that's why we stayed the Contemporary and Polynesian on our most recent visits.

On a disturbing note; a good friend of mine who visits WDW twice a year for the last 20 years and has always stayed at the WL since 2002 is rather displeased with the cast members there. The last two times they stayed there they were celebrating either a milestone birthday or a wedding anniversary and the staff totally messed up all her special arrangements. They put her in the wrong room, they paid for concierge level and got put on the 2nd floor, didn’t deliver in room decorations and gifts etc. She is quite angry and told me she and her DH are shifting to the Grand Floridian. I haven’t read about anyone else experiencing these types of things but it makes you wonder.

I once took a 4 day/3 night trip from NYC in early December 2003. We had gotten annual passes in February that year and wanted to take full advantage of it. So it was a relatively inexpensive trip since we already had park admission and got an AP discount on the room-only reservation during value season. It was worth it!

I went just for the weekend for food and wine festival last fall. I flew down Friday after work and came back sunday night. It was fun to get to go, but not enough time. I won't do less than 3 full days now.

The shortest trip I've done was in March for the first anniversary party of D23.

I flew from Ottawa, landed at MCO at 1305 on Friday, March 5th. Checked in at GF. Went to the party and flew out the following day at 1345.

I have expensive whims...

I just went down to Orlando this past weekend. I drove 12 hrs from VA and arrived down there around 4pm. It was a busy weekend for me as I hit Epcot & the Magic Kingdom that night, Saturday I went to Busch Gardens Tampa for their Howl-O-Scream, Sunday I went to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights and then on Monday I went to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot & Hollywood Studios. I left that night around 9pm and drove back 12 hrs to VA. It was a fun filled really packed weekend.

I will be taking my shortest trip this year. I will take a red-eye Thursday night. I be in WDW Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday I will visit Universal until 4 pm and fly home that night. I will miss 2 days of work, but the flight is 5 hours. I can't take a shorter trip than that.

I are you segmenting out those of us living in FL???

Are you jealous that I can just go whenever and spend an hour in the park with my only plan being to get a hot dog at Casey's one night if I choose? :D

I used to go to the area for business quite a bit. In those cases I would somtime go for just a day.

I have a 4 day trip in January for the Marathon.

Maybe if I found a really really good airfare deal, I would go for a weekend.

My family went for 1 day (we took the last flight out on friday night and were on the first flight out on Sunday morning). We went just to see the castle decorated as a cake. It was gross, but at least I can say I saw it in person.

It was DH's first time ever to DW. He got to go on the Skyway. It was a ridiculous trip, but in hindsight I'm so glad we did it. DH (then fiancee) thought he'd hate it, but he didn't. We decided to do a Disney honeymoon and haven't been anywhere else since! 12 years and counting!

My DH and I often do weekend getaway trips from RI. We have 10-day hoppers with no exp that usually last us a couple of years, and we shop around for discount flights, so we can generally do a weekend for $500 or less. Well worth it for a mental health break!

Back when I lived in FL, driving down for a day was no biggie...and since my parents and brother/sil still live in FL...I see quite a few 1-2 nt trips in our future. We've resisted these mini trips over the last few years b/c we wanted one longer trip for our girls as their first trip, but I'm contemplating a 1 or 2 nt trip next September or October so we can surprise the kiddos w/MNSSHP.
