Shortest trip to DW?

For those not living in FL, or better yet far enough away that you'd take a plane, what's the shortest trip you've taken or would take? Would you go for just a weekend? Sometimes I miss it so bad I consider it, but it would just go by so fast... and the weekends are always so busy, I'm afraid I'd spend my entire weekend in lines. I'm just an addict, that's all.

Once, the wife and I did a 3 day trip to Orlando and only spent one day at WDW. We have friends in the Tampa area, so we are considering a one or two day stop at WDW in March on our way to see them.

My thoughts are if you are going to fly, you need to spend at least 4 days visiting WDW parks. However, if you are driving and doing other things in FL (family, friends, non-WDW parks, etc), you can totally do 1 or 2 days at WDW and it make sense.

I would LOVE to drop into the World for a long weekend. But I don't like to fly. We usually go for 8 days and this coming trip is for 10 days so I am excited about that!

From 2009 -10 we took 3 trips to Disney. The shortest was for the Halloween Party. We flew in from Michigan on Thursday and flew out on Sunday. It was way too short of a trip, but we really wanted to go to the party!!

Shortest trip so far has been 4.5 days. It was a whirlwind trip trying to pack everything in. We did it but were exhausted (but we usually attack our trips in military fashion anyway). We are headed to the world in March for 2.5 days to get our "fix". I, too, just can't stay away and think that even one day in paradise is better than none. We are realistic though and only plan to do EP and MK this trip. Can live w/o HS and AK for another year.

A few years back we were taking a trip (I think 4 or 5 days) to Disney's resort in Vero Beach. We had also just heard that Lights, Motors, Action had just opened at DHS, so we scheduled an extra 2 nights at Old Key West for after our Vero Beach visit. On the day between the 2 nights, we visited DHS and nothing else. So I guess that would be our shortest trip. For coming all the way from Indiana, that's pretty short!

Memorial Day weekend in 2009, my husband was out of town on business and I was bored. One of my brothers and I decided on Saturday morning to take his granddaughter down because she had relatives in Orlando on vacation. We left around 1:00 in the afternoon, and drove 535 miles, spent the night at the Hampton Inn near Downtown Disney, got up the next morning and went to the MK, stayed that night and came home Monday.

Many years ago (1976 to be exact), my parents, brothers and I left Chattanooga on Thursday evening, arriving at WDW Friday afternoon, spent the night at the Contemporary with a Magic Kingdom view ($74 a night), and came back home on Saturday evening. Arriving around 3:00 Sunday morning. As we were leaving the Contemporary parking lot my mother said the next time she went to WDW, she was staying a week. Well she now lives just as far away and has an annual pass.

Our shortest trip was a 2 day trip back in 2005. We stayed off property and arrived in Kissimmee Saturday evening. On Sunday, we went to church, visited Downtown Disney, played mini-golf in Kissimmee Sunday evening, went to Epcot Monday and went home Tuesday.

Now, the story behind that trip is that we had done a 10 day honeymoon trip in April 2003, staying off property in Kissimmee. We did it again in April of 2004, same motel as in 2003 and 2005. I was all ready to do it again in 2005, but my wife thought it would be nice to try someplace different, and she wanted to do San Antonio. So, for our April 2005 vacation, we went to San Antonio. However, around February or March of 2005, I was sitting at my desk at work and was having Disney withdrawls and really wanted to get a Disney fix that year, and I really wanted to try out that new Soarin' ride at Epcot, so I came up with this brainstorm of doing an extended weekender trip on Memorial Day weekend. We didn't have kids at that time, so that's why we could just plan a trip on a whim like that. I figured between our regular days off, and the Memorial Day Holiday (which was a paid day off at the job I had at the time), we would only have to ask off for a few days. So I decided we would stop and visit my Aunt in Jacksonville for a couple days, then drive to Kissimmee and stay there for a couple days. So we left Illinois on Wednesday and arrived at my Aunt's house Thursday evening. We went to the beach on Friday, then left her house sometime early Saturday afternoon, then left for Kissimmee. We hadn't ever done Downtown Disney before, so we bummed around there for a while on Sunday, then did the main event on Monday before heading home. A short trip, and not a whole lot of Disney, but hey, it still counts as a Disney trip. LOL

Actually, after typing all of the above, I just realized that I was only thinking of the trips I've taken as a married man. I just realized that my 2000 trip was even shorter. A few buddies and I decided to go to Florida over Spring break. We arrived in Kissimmee Monday night, went to Daytona Beach on Tuesday, went to Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, then went home on Thursday. So on that trip, I only went to Disney one day.

And the 1987 trip that is on my signature, I was in Junior High. My parents took us to Florida to visit my Dad's sister (the same Aunt I already mentioned) in Jacksonville. During that visit, my parents took my brother and I and our cousin to Orlando for two days, during which we visited Epcot on one day and the Magic Kingdom on the other, before heading back to Jacksonville.

Shortest trip ever? Just this month...3days/2nights at Riverside, Friday to Sunday. We had a 7:05am flight out of IAD landed at MCO about two hours later. Took Magical Express and ended up at Riverside's Online Check-In about 45 minutes later.

All in all, we did MNSSHP our first day since we knew we wouldn't be arriving at the MK til 4-ish anyway. Day #2 consisted of all four parks, AK was first and MK was the nightcap. Departure Day was mostly Epcot with a brief visit to the MK thrown in before heading to the resort to catch Magical Express. Our flight that night wasn't until 8:55pm

This recent trip taught us that a weekend CAN be done, just pick what you really want to see and enjoy what you can. Lucky for us it was also our anniversary so we were just happy to take a vacation away from home. :D

My parents went down for the day to go to DTD to get me a Christmas gift. They went to get the picture of Walt with Mickey as his shadow. They also flew for free, so it's not like I was that spoiled.

I wouldn't mind going for the weekend. Just to get my fix a couple of times per year would be great. The flight is only 2hrs from my home airport so the travel would not be that bad. But my wife wouldn't do it so there ya go.

Well, I think I have everyone beat. When I went to visit my brother in Boca Raton, FL I wanted to go to Disney but time didn't really allow. I was with my sister and her 2 kiddies...all of which had never been. So, we left early in the morning and were going to drive for the day and go back to Boca. Soooo, the rental car we had all week decided to break down midway through the journey and we were stuck on the side of the road for 6 hours. No food, no bathroom and we were going insane!! Anyway, by the tme we got a new car and stopped for food we still wanted to go to MK. We were there for probably a total of 3 maybe 4 hours. We were going to check into CR to crash but decided to drive back. So, that was my shortest trip.

For all of my other trips, it has never been less than 6 days....just wouldn't make sense to go shorter due to airfare.

As a family we go every other year, but sometimes I just need a "fix" of WDW so I myself will hop on the morning Frontier flight out of Milwaukee and take the ME to POP, arriving about noon. My room is always ready, I hop on the bus from POP and take in one park with a one day pass with no extras (park hopper, water parks, etc.). I will go to the park that has EMHs so I actually get about 10 hours in that park if it's open until midnight. I just did this at Epcot for the F&WF. Then fly back the next day about noon. Works great and is relatively cheap! And I earn FF miles on Frontier.
