"Short" Wand Update and Shhh They're On To Us - 8/8

Pics of wand are below. I was all geeked up to see the monitors on SSE seat backs so I went up to the windows tonight to look. Since they're mirrored, you have to get your face right up against them to block the light from the postshow area. Well, I did that like 100 times before but this time, all I saw was black. Were the lights off? Nope! They put a black tarp up to keep me from seeing in! :fork:

As I turned around, I saw two CMs looking at me. Thinking I was busted by the Disney cops, I smiled sheepishly at them. One says to me, "they blocked it off didn't they?" They were very nice and told me that there's a bathroom in the unload area that they used to be able to use and they can't anymore because it gives a view to the ride. They also said there were a couple of handles removed from access doors so you couldn't peek. The whole place is on lockdown now. Shhhh, they're on to us!! :lookaroun

OK, on to the pics....

They lopped off a big section off the top last night.

And about the CM's - most are just as curios as we are about construction work, so they totally understand peaking in windows and such. However, the Imagineers and construction folk are the ones who think we're all crazy.

Thanks for the pics! Man, as that structure gets smaller, Spaceship Earth's true size continues to grow. Just imagine once the work is done with the entire structure gone and the stars on SSE's roof are gone, it'll be great!

Thanks for the wand-less pic. I showed my husband, who never went there when there was no wand. I can't wait to get my picture in front of the new old-school sphere. Me and my sister on our WDW vacations get the photo pass folks to take at least one picture of us together as a memento. This is going to make it extra special. I think we'll do it on October 1st when we are there for the celebration!

I was thinking the same thing. I loved how people were saying when they were first taking down the structure that it would take forever to dismantle it because it took a number of months to erect it. Ha! And yes, I just wanted to use erect in a sentence.

Oh that black tarp is so my fault - I got caught looking in yesterday by one of the workers and he gave me the dirtiest of looks. They probably decided to put an end to the peeping Toms.
