People upset because the Disney World is not building a new major ride every year.
This is a valid complaint for those of use who are fans of Disney Parks. Since 1955, Disney has been the de-facto leader of the amusement park industry. Over the last ten years or so, they have fallen far behind Universal Studios.
Check it out:
September 2011 - Disney announces partnership with James Cameron to build Avatar Land/World of Pandora at Animal Kingdom.
January 2014 - Construction begins on Avatar Land.
First Quarter 2017 - Avatar Land will open.
Nearly six years from deal to reveal.
Meanwhile over at Universal...
January 2007 - Deal is struck between Universal and WB for Wizarding World of Harry Potter
June 2010 - WWoHP opens at Islands of Adventure
From deal to reveal in a little over 3 years.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE
December 2011 - Jaws: The Ride closes at Universal Studios to make way for Harry Potter Phase 2
June 2014 - London/Diagon Alley opens with a Hogwart's Express train to connect both parks.
Less than three years.
Universal built two completely immersive yet connecting lands in two completely different parks and they did it in the same time that it is taking Disney to get ONE Avatar Land built.
Meanwhile at Disney, there is a yeti that is still not working, great shows at World Showcase are being given the boot for state fair midway entertainers, structures meant to be temporary hang around for years on end, and Frozen is being shoehorned into anything and everything even if it doesn't make a lick of sense. (still waiting for "Disney's FROZEN Penguin Habitat" or something at DAK)
