She Kissed a Frog and She Liked It! July 2012 Trip Report

Hi Everyone,

We are back from our latest trip to WDW and it was a blast. WDW is still a magical place despite some of the issues she may be experiencing, we truly had a great family vacation. Seeing the Magic Kingdom through the eyes of a three year old gives you a whole new perspective.

Anyone have a trick for shrinking photos so they can upload to the website? Every time I try to post a pic I get told that the file is too large. Anyone know what the max size is? Thanks, full report is on its way!

The Pre Trip report can be read here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/i-dont-want-to-kiss-a-frog-ptr.841333/, it'll give you a taste for the cast.

Ok, it took me awhile but I figured out how to resize photos on my Mac, thank you google!

Day 1: Leaving on a Jet Plane...

We arrived at Bradley Airport about 2 hours before our flight, it was early so we figured the security lines wouldn't be too bad. We checked our bags with Sky Cap and flew through security, none of us were molested which was good. I wasn't looking forward to that. :)

Molly and Grandpa watching the trucks and planes. This was Molly's first flight so she was excited / nervous.

The flight went great, we had been debating bringing a car seat for Molly, we decided against it and were happy with the results. She had a habit of swinging her feet which would have been much worse with the car seat. Once we were in the air, Molly watched Princess and the Frog on the Ipad while Mommy slept. As we began our approach we were creative in keeping Molly entertained:

So we made some funny faces!

We got off the plane and headed towards Disney's Magical Express, I'm a big fan!

Poly here we come!

We had a great trip on the ME, our driver was great, I think his name was Ken. As we left the bus we were welcomed by name on the sidewalk. As we were escorted to the check in I felt like a VIP! They certainly know how to treat their guests at the Poly! There was no wait to check in and our rooms were ready! We were assigned adjoining rooms as requested in Tahiti, a great spot at the Poly, its very close to the TTC so it gave us many travel options.

Our room was perfect! Mousekeeping forgot the bed rail, no biggie, they were in the room in a few minutes. Grandma and Grandpa had an issue with their bathroom. It appeared that they forgot to clean it from the previous guest, hair in the drain, used soap, etc. Yuck. It was taken care of in no time.

We grabbed lunch from Captain Cooks, I had the bacon cheeseburger, Mom had the hamburger, Molly had the chicken nuggets, and Grandma had a caesar salad. The food was good, typical quick serve fare.

Next I went to bell services to pickup the stroller and groceries we had ordered. Everything was correct except for the bottled water. We had purchased Poland Springs, I'm a water snob, but were given Zephyllis. It was listed as being two bucks cheaper so that wasn't cool. We got in touch with garden grocer and they sent over two more cases of water, what are we going to do with 120 bottles of water? LOL The stroller we rented from Kingdom Strollers, it was a BOB Revolution, and was perfect for our needs.

I had planned on adding the Photopass plus feature now but the Photopass desk at the Poly didn't open until 5 pm. We had ressies at Chef Mickey for 6:15 so I was a little worried. We took naps and toured the resort while we waited for dinner. At 4:45 grandpa and I headed back to the photopass desk to get hooked up. We were first in line and the upgrade only took 5 minutes. Score!

We hopped on the monorail and headed to the Contemporary. I should tell you that I am a big fan of the monorail, maybe even a fanatic. I loved every minute of the ride. I also think its one of the reasons I enjoy the Poly so much.

On arrival at the Contemporary!

Chef Mickey's was great, it was a first for all of us. Our server, Roger, was tremendous. He took the time to explain how everything worked and was quite humorous throughout the meal. I thought the food was fine, about the same as you would find at a local buffet. The roast beef I especially enjoyed, I had seconds, and the mashed potatoes were good too. Molly was so excited she didn't eat anything! All she had was two juice boxes, it would become a theme of our character meals. The characters were great, Pluto was especially silly.

One of my favorite pictures of the whole trip, there is no denying Molly's excitement!

After dinner we headed back to the Poly for some pool time. Man I love the volcano pool! It was a perfect night, and we watched the moon and stars while swimming, we particularly enjoyed getting soaked in the waterfall. Afterwards, Molly and I made a sand castle on the beach and we were able to roast marshmallows over an open fire! I didn't know about this! It was free too! It was a perfect end to a great first day of vacation!

Up Next: the Magic Kingdom!
Edit: I don't know what happened to the pictures!

Love the pics from the plane. Reading your thoughts on the monorail also have me second guessing my own plans. I love the convenience of it, but oh well- trying something new. The Chef Mickey's pics also great!!! Can't wait to read more!

Love it! Your daughter is precious and looks so happy with the characters.
Thanks, she was really great with the characters. You'll see in day 2 that's basically all we do! We figured she would either love them or hate them, we got lucky and she loved them.
