In terms of Tapestry of Dreams...they shouldn't have changed Tapestry of Nations, as it was far superior...the Sage of Time was far superior to the freaky trolls...I do like the music, however. I had heard a while back of the possibility of replacing Tapestry with a Light Magic style parade...hopefully not Light Magic, itself. Is this still a possibility, or do you think they will go back to just having IllumiNations?

the word around Epcot Entertainment is an updated Lightmagic... the parade wasn't too bad, but it was definitely a poor choice for a replacement for the MSEP. I could see it fitting in Epcot tho

...apparently most people agree with you...prior to the parade, they announce that a recent survey rates the AK Parade as the #1 afternoon parade...

I thought i was a terrific parade and a 'must see' on your next visit!:sohappy:

I LOVE the music! It's the closest any of the recent parades have come to a "street party", and it's kewl--if you stay in Harambe, you can see the parade twice! It starts and ends there! One thing...they don't seem to play the music over Animal Kingdom's ambience speakers...they just play it from the floats, and it can get a bit loud; still, an excellent parade--way back before it opened, everyone thought it'd be a short parade, but it's actually pretty long. The puppets, floats, and SUVs are kewl...and all the characters...I love this parade!

I think it would be much quicker if at another park. IMO, it goes slower because the area is so narrow with less room for error.

Is there any factual basis to this Rob?

yes. The parade is slow because these floats have to run slightly slower to be able to maneuver... also, it has the longest parade route at WDW. Many performers call MJJP, the "March of Death"

Just curious Rob, how do you see Light Magic fitting in at Epcot. I personally liked the show, but like you said it wasn't a good parade to replace such a cherished parade to DL fans.

easy...

1-ToD has VERY few fans. LM would be perceived as the replacement to ToD, not ToN. They've hit rock-bottom as it is. The approval ratings for Lightmagic were higher than what ToD has now, so you can only go up.

2-Lightmagic had a very cosmopolitan vibe to it, very classy. Too much class to be at a Magic Kingdom... it was a more grown-up parade. Disney didn't aim for the lowest common denominator with this one. Epcot has a ton of class... too much class for 3 cheesy trolls, and a mostly adult audience Just retheme the parade a bit, to have more of an Epcot theme to it, rather than step-dancing pixies and it could work

3-Anything would be better than ToD... believe me. I get more of a kick from seeing a person tapdancing that I do from ToD (not a mere boast... I have proof)

i have yet to see ToD, but i've seen pics of the guy that replaced the Sage of Time, and i must agree with those who've said SoT is far superior! the new guy just looks plain goofy! i don't think they should've ever changed ToN (it was my ultimate fave of over all Disney parades! it's the only parade that made me actually want to be a performer in it!) i think changing ToN will ultimately be its death.
anyway, as for Share a Dream...yeah, it's not just for the 100th, i can promise you that. Magical Moments came with the 25th anniversary...it was there for 5 years before they finally took it out (had it not been for the 100th, i'm positive it would've STILL been there!) on the same note, ToN was for the Millenium...had it not been for the 100th, i'm sure it would've still been ToN (2 years AFTER the Millenium) so, 'special events' parades aren't just for the 'special events'...sure, they may celebrate them while the event is going, but most likely, they'll stay after the event is over. and, please, don't think i'm complaining, cuz i'm not. it's perfectly fine with me that the parades stay the same for a while (unless it's a parade that i really hate *cough*Hercules*cough*)
and i'm not so sure about a Light Magic type parade in Epcot. i mean, to me right now it doesn't seem like a good idea. i'm not seeing how they would make it work (especially in WS). BUT i just won't know until i see it/if i see it. so for now, i'll have mixed feelings about it.

I have never seen Lightmagic, but from what Ive been hearing, and just from the name of the parade, mabey it would fit better in Future World? It sounds...futuristic :) (I am guessing you all have 101 good reasons why a parade wouldn't fit in Future World, though)

i was thinking the same thing...i know the layout of FW probably isnt' meant for a parade...but i just don't know how a light parade could be themed to fit in WS

One of the BEST ever!

Thumbs up for the "Share a Dream Come True" parade...very cleverly done with the Snowglobes...the music is good and the parade isn't too long....the interactive part of the previous parade was a good idea but it made the parade too long....I suspect we'll see this parade for many years...by the way, if you videotape the parade, try standing at the top of Main Street looking at the Castle...this is a fabulous spot but it's 100% in the sun....if you can take the heat, the parade comes straight at you with the Castle in the background...what a setting!

...as far as Tapestry of Dreams parade, I have a serious deficiency in culture apparently cuz I think this parade, as well as ToN, were the most overrated parades in all the Parks. I didn't see it this year and if I never see it again it would be too soon.

from the videos i have seen it looks like they kept the epcot parade, so i wouldnt be surprised if they kept the 100 yrs. parade. Personally, im not a huge fans of parade unless its the MSEP parade. :D

:)

If/when they do away with the ToD parade they need to keep the music. It is permanently in my head. Sort of like IASW.

How about a ToOff Kilter parade? :D

Tapestry of Dreams was not a cheap parade for your info. It took more money and planning than you probably now about!

I know more about that parade than you can imagine... if you are seemingly so well knowing, please, by all means, throw some numbers my way. I know how much work went into this... I attended the ToD workshops and remember how much pride we took in this parade... until we saw the finished product and realized how horrible it looked.

I know what's my opinion, and who are you to judge whether or not it is right. After all, it is my opinion. However, I do know the numbers (which I am not at libery to divulge), and all I can say is, that my 4BR/2½BA house cost barely $2,000 less than the money Disney spent on rehabbing ToN into ToD. However, MJJP and DSMC (AK and MGM parades) were also done rather inexpensively, but they are getting great reviews. Which means 1 thing to me. For ToD the money was spent in the wrong places. They spent too much trying to redefine it and not enough trying to make the damn thing good. IMO, the final product looks like they tried too hard w/ the dreamseekers, and not hard enough w/ the rest of the parade. Most of the money was spent on the 0:57 secs of audio in the beginning, and on the costumes for the dreamseekers... but not enough on the puppets (less than $15 to convert a ToN puppet into a ToD puppet), floats (even the Dreamseeker float was made mostly from spare parts), and puppeteer training/costumes (not so much a show point, as it is a quality point. The new puppeteers SUCK. There's no other way to go about it... they stink! And the costumes are all cut too big now).

I can go on and on about this, but I need not crash Steve's server tonite.
