I heard this too. I don't remember if it was fact or rumor that they were dreaming up this resort.

As far as Shadowland or a park dedicated to villains, I think a ride or show would better vs. an entire park or area (i.e. Frontierland etc.)

And as far as a resort, I would be up for that inn theory depending on how it's implemented. Also, I think Disney would have to be careful and not make a villain resort not too scary with all the little kids that come to WDW.

The haunted hotel you are refering to is the Tower of Terror. The original concept for that attraction was to have it be a real hotel where guests could stay with all of the spooky effects and the attraction we have today would have been attached to it, with the entrance of the attraction still inside the park. That idea was thought up to help cover the huge cost of this new proposed ride, but for some reason it never came to be.

wouldn't it be really weird to have a resort INSIDE a park? How would you handle tickets and stuff??? or for that matter, how could you have an attraction (ride) inside a resort?

That would be awesome! Being able to get up in the morning and look out over the park. Of course the only problem with a hotel ever being in the park, I would think, is space. Not nearly enough space to have the elaborate hotels Disney is know for.

If I was staying there, I would love it. If not, it would irritate the &*%@ out of me

When I was very young, I thought the MK resorts were actually inside the park! That was before Epcot and all that so when I heard "Disney World" I immediately thought of MK.

Now how do I rent a room inside the castle...:drevil:

Wouldn't it be like that resort at California Adventure? Right on the edge of the park, with one of the exits going directly to some park turnstiles?

i've never been to the california disney. Its sounds cool though. But from the post, it sounded like the resort itself would BE the attraction. I think the logistics of that would make it very difficult.

If I'm not mistaken, either or both Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Tokyo have a resort within the theme park. Obviously, the check-in and main entrance would be outside with some controlled entrance in and out of the park for guests. As for the villains, I think that they could build an entire section onto MGM with a total Villains theme. The villains fit very nicely into the MGM Studios theme because of Fantasmic. This whole new section could also have a deluxe Villains resort that enters into the park and especially into the Villains area of the park that way the resort fits very nicely into the area of the park and saves money on trying to obscure any disconnect between a resort and a park that might be necessary otherwise, and it would help keep costs down. :D

i think the difficulty might be in keeping the masses of people who visit the park from flooding the hotel. I know i wouldn't want to pay deluxe rates to stay in a "haunted place" that was continuously packed with people kind of wandering the halls to see the decor. Everyone from the park would head to the hotel everytime it was too hot, or cold or rainy or just to see it. It might make it uncomfortable for the guests staying there. Has this been a problem at the other parks where they have a resort in the park?

If any company were to put any hotel within any theme park I think admission to the park would be included in hotel room rates. In addition, hotel guests would be issued a pass that would allow them to enter the hotel via a "secret"/"reserved" entrance, if any attractions were to be built within the structure of the hotel building itself. As for Disney's so-called hotels within theme parks around the world, if I am not mistaken they all straddle the border of the park and have gated entrances into the parks.
