Hi all not to bring people down but yesterday a close friend of mine who is pregnant told me she has cervical cancer:(.I was devastated as this woman is a close friend of who has had a rough year and seemed to be getting really happy with news of the baby on the way to only hear about this sickness. She was told she had to wait 12 weeks(til pregnancy is over) and my question is how bad is this cancer and if they wait is there a chance she would get worse or is this common?I know nothing about it personally(I am a single male so this is new to me) and if anyone who has been thru it or known someone who has and could give some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all on here who bring the happiness daily and let me into your "Disney Family"

Hi Kelly.
I'm so sorry for your friend. This should be such a joyous time for her. But she is truly blessed to have such a caring friend.
I don't know much about the disease, but I do know of a girl who received that diagnosis at the start of her pregnancy. She was able to go through the pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby. Immediately after, she had a total hysterectomy and has been cancer free from that point. Of course every case is different, but hopefully your friend's condition was caught in its early stages and is treatable.
Praying for her.

After a pap some years ago, I was told I had pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. It's also known as dysplasia. I had to have laser treatment, which essentially burned them off. Since then (over 10 years), nothing has come back.

I don't know much about the actual cancer, but I hope your friend has a lot of support. It's going to be rough on her after the baby, and she will need all the help she can get, taking care of herself and the baby.

I think you are being a great friend, trying to find out about it and being there for her.

Here's another really good site with really good information: http://www.cancer.ca/ccs/internet/standard/0,3182,3331_10175_275922_langId-en,00.html

Stay strong, and my well wishes to your friend.

Well thank you guys the kind words help, believe me I need them now as she is a good friend and she is scared to death.I was hoping for what was said prior and that the cells would be pre-cancerous but unfortunately they were not. What bothers me is I am unable to do anything and feel helpless.I can only be there for her and hope ad pray that she gets well soon. You know its funny when you are in your early 30's and you think their is no way anything like this will happen to you and yet you find out that you have something as devastating as cancer it destroys alot of the hopes in life you have.I just hope that they contain this early and it goes away fast.Thank you again for all the well wishes and support.I really do appreciate it at this time.
